I think thats just a ground texture, or if it isn't maybe Loof or someone has to collect the coins or something.

No. It says it is a rainbow gate. And I don't see Loof or any rainbow coins.

Where? Also, on the last picture on the first page it shows Loof standing on one.

Maybe this game's mechanics don't require rainbow coins to open the rainbow gates.
