Also should mention that this version has a debug option on, meaning that error messages will be easier for me to trace. For example, I just found one cause of the memory access violation error that happens on some custom levels (e.g. on Kaboom!s first Trivia version)... so let me know if you get any other new (or old) errors so I can wipe them out. ;)

Will I got my first error in a custom game. All the other times the game would just freeze And then I would use Ctrl/Alt/Del to get out of the game but this is the first time that I got a error. It would kick me back to by desktop with a small window and in that small window it said Array Index out of bounds. I was playing one of Kaboom custom games Wonderrivia1. I have played the game before and had no problem at all but after downloading the patch I get my first error.

I am running Pention 4 CPU 1.70 GHz------512 MB of Ram------ATI Radem 8500 AGP with 128 MB------also I have Windows XP pro.

I hope this helps and you can tell me how to fix it . Thanks Dave

Yes, the "Array Index Out of Bounds" error is expected - it simply means that in thefirst version of Kaboom!s Trivia level there were too many objects (in this case boxes, I think) - what used to be just the memory access violation on certain levels (which I hope to get rid of through this process).

Please continue to let me know of any levels that cause such errors. In particular of course if the freeze bug still occurs.

The MAV can also happen when we have too much coins or UFO motherships in a level.

MAV=Memory acces violation :wink:

Patrick, I downloaded your patch and my game is not running properly. The scrolling through custom level files and the custom levels themselves is very slow. Also, when I choose a level to play it is very slow and jerky, to the point where I really can't play at all. I'm running Windows 98SE, with a Nvidea GForce 2MX/MX 400 card, 192MB ram, and I have the latest version of DirectX. The original version was running much better for me, even though I occassionally had crashes. Can I please get the original .exe file back?

SharonM,
You can downlaod again RTWD from the place you did it when you bought the game and install the game in another location an copy that .exe to your directory and remplace the 2.02 version.

Thanks Kaboom, I downloaded from the email link I got and I don't want to have to pay for it again. :)

Hehe, now it starts getting complicated. ;) SharonM, the slower game on your system is because of the extra debugging information - it slows down the game a little and will have an impact on older/slower systems.

So here's version 2.03 - it's without the debug info and should run faster again. I've also fixed the bug that was causing the MAV for Kaboom's Trivia level.

www.midnightsynergy.com/returntowonderl ... dlgame.exe

Again, put into your RTWDeluxe directory, replacing the old wdlgame.exe

Keep on truckin'!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Fatal crashes again, even with this 2.03 version! Just now, I tryed a custom level of mine and when I tapped Esc, selected RESTART the level, I hear an awfull noise (and never stopped) and the PC frezzed by complete! (No ctrl+alt+del or alt+f4) worked!! I had to rebot the computer manualy :(

This happens to me quite often with the new custom levels. If a level is jumpy or the music sounds funny I exit immediately and delete it out of my folder...Whenever it occurs it has been on a level that does not run smoothly. I will also say that I am not a computer expert so when something does not appear normal I try to get rid of it before I have a problem...

I had the something similar happen to me, Kaboom. I was playing a custom level and Stinky froze in midstep. There was this horrid buzzing noise and I tried to control-alt-delete. It didn't work. I hit it several times and finally got a blue screen with a red mark. Still wouldn't restart, so I hit the reset button on the computer. I've never actually had anything like that screen before, so I'm not sure what it was. Anybody have any idea or had anything similar happen?

Has anyone else had invisibel signs, in the classic custom levels, that hasn't been there before?

I was replaying some of Carolyn's "old" levels and with at least two of them, I had this strange "bug"....

One of them was "Rescuing Loof" and there were two or three invisibel signs, that had nothing to do with this level... Actually, if I remember correct, they were from one of her new deluxe levels and were referring to box-generators and rainbow statues....

Could it be because I have two "Carolyn" folders now (one for her classis levels and the other for the deluxe)?

Happened to me that crash again! This time is W9L3 (RIMRUNNER) - Classical RTW Levels.

I guess this always hapen when a level has 2 charaters, and you exit with one and then, few seconds later, you press ESC and select restart level, THERE is when the crash occurs.

I heard again the "squeek" they do when they explode. And the PC crashed immediatly. (no CTRL+AST+DEL).. Nothung worked even with the 2.03 version.

I have minimal problems with crashing. When I do crash, I am always able to get out of it with a control, alt, delete. That brings up a black screen and about 15 seconds later, task manager appears. I then shut down wonderland and that takes about 5 or 10 seconds. A reboot is never necessary. I bring up the game again and all works well.

I had to wait for it to happen again because it is sometimes weeks in between. Here is what is going on when it does.

I have all of the rainbow coins in the game but cannot enter the portal with all characters because one of them is blocked or I didn't get all of the bonus coins and know I can. When I click on restart, the game freezes. It is always when I attempt to restart when I have all coins but don't enter the portal but want to replay for whatever reason.

If I choose play another level and then choose that same level, I never have the problem.

Win2000
Nividia Riva TNT2 Model 64
AMD K6 3D processor
256 ram

This isn't a major deal to me at all. I only offer it to you because you are working on it to improve the game for those who do have major problems and there might be a clue here.

I had a crash again. This time I was controlling Loof (Stinky had exit before) and I was just about to catch a bonus coin, and I hear it's creem (for no reason) and the pc frozed completly. Had to restart it.

What's the name of the level? If it doesn't crash for all of us then the bug would be related to the program and not the level. If you name it here, I will check it out and give feedback.

Level: Hostile Environment - W3L9 (classical levels)

run the level with RTWD and kill all chompers, then try to grap the bonus coins after stinky exits (orLoof)

the crash happens there

That should be W3L7 for those who might be able to check it out :) I put several in that level aside for another time. If I did that it means it was taking me awhile and I don't have free time today.

I had a free moment so I went back and played Hostile Environment again. I killed all chompers, then let Stinky exit, made my bridge, grabbed the bonus coins and left....no problem. I have NOT downloaded any of the updates...so the level does not have a bug. :?

Hey clasjaz! When you say installed, do you mean intalling the game or opening the game?

I used to get the MAV when I opened the Editor first, then tried running the game. I also received it when too many programs were running at the same time.

Shut down all the programs that you have open, and try installing it again.

You probably didn't unzip the files into the existing RTWD directory. If you simply run the files from inside the ZIP you'll get a MAV.

Here's the post again for v2.05 (from a different thread).

You can download the files
here:

www.midnightsynergy.com/returntowonderl ... ate205.zip

Unzip the files (there are four) into your current RTW directory (i.e.
overwriting the existing ones). Don't simply run them from within the zip
file or form a separate directory, as that will cause an error.
