After getting the Star Key

I went inside the temple & down the ladder & completed all the levels down there, eventually getting the Star Key. When I came back up the ladder I walked around to the other ladder & went up (at least I think it's up), but I can't get across the single water tile to get to the red teleporters & there doesn't seem to be anything else to do up here. Am I being incredibly dense, or have I missed something? 
Please help!!! I really don't want to move on if there's still something to be done here.

You haven't missed anything. When you got the star key, the directions there were:
"Now just grab the star key and head back to the surface." The surface = outside.
Have you tried that? Doing that will eventually lead you to that room again.

Are we supposed to finish the other levels first, before getting the start key? For I got the key when I only had played the levels on the right side and then I came somewhere else, and it seemed I could not go back to the village or the camp. And I would like to have the possibillity to go back to buy a big bag, a map or something, or to ask Mr. Guggenheimer to send me back in time and such. Does it take long before I can go back then?

When you go to somewhere else, there'll be a telepoter behind an arrow. That's the way back.

Thanks. I saw that teleporter, but because it's behind that arrow, I could not reach it. I have to go over the arrow, and then I'm back in the room with the magic mirror, but there's no way back to the other parts of the temple or the village.

To get out of the room with the mirror, you have to talk to somebody first.
The teleporter is just there for show.

Thanks! Right now I'm playing the other levels in the temple first, for I had another saved game without getting the key, so now I'm going further with that.
But when I was through that mirror, it seemed I could only do one level, and I didn't see anyone to talk with. (actually the only thing they say is "njak njak njak")
So may I assume that I first have to finish that level, or maybe more levels, before I meet one who can tell me how to go back?
