the gems and coins in Floing Mastery class

Hi all, I have completed the mastery class level, with thanks to all the posts I could find here and the videos, couldn't have done it without the help.. But i cannot get the gems and coins... when I come out of the area with the pink blocks, with 9 blinks intact another chomper always gets me before I can get the blocks down and the gems... I killed the first chomper as suggested on the blue button, but when I emerge past the blue button again I get 'got' by another chomper... Where am I going wrong?? Suggestions greatly appreciated!!

You should kill all 3 chompers, not just the first, before proceeding further into the blink room.

okay, but how do I kill the other two? I know I must be missing something really obvious...

After you kill the first one, just wait there and they'll come after you.
