I run Windows 7, but could easily get Ubuntu.

Just to remind everybody that VMWare is a good tool for running an OS inside your machine so that you won't have to wreck things up. A free alternative is Oracle VirtualBox.
Also, Wine works by translating the Windows API (think of it as the keys on a keyboard, Windows uses QWERTY arrangement while UNIX (the correct name for all Unix-like system such as Linux, Ubuntu, FreeBSD etc) to UNIX API, and this process isn't perfect, so sometimes it might crash.

That's true, you can create your own
Virtual Machine running inside another OS.
The VMWare Player is free; the website requests that
you first join & create a free account with them

The VMWare Player comes in several flavors,
such as:
VMware Player 4.0.1 for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows
VMware Player 4.0.1 for 32-bit Linux (.bundle)
The last example (VMWare Player for Linux) allows you to
run any virtual machine within a Linux host,
for example - you may run Windows 7 from within Linux.
{ Windows 7 will be the parasite, Linux the host }
This has its benefits and drawbacks,...
The benefit is that you can have an ENTIRE Windows OS within Linux,
the drawback is that it will consume some physical RAM & disk memory,
and that it is a sort-of emulation.

Yes, WINE is designed to emulate the Windows API as close as possible.
Another program called Cygwin does the opposite: Emulate a bash shell (program used to control UNIX systems) inside Windows. It is very useful for building applications when Visual Studio doesn't feel like working.
(You mostly won't need this one)

With the newest version of Ubuntu, I literally skipped all of this except for the installing Wine and such part. It allows you to dualboot it with any other systems and already has Restricted Areas and the like built in. Thanks for the heads-up, though.

I am able to run all of the Wonderland games on a Macbook Pro using Wine, but I can't run the RTW level editor. It'll open a blank window and that's it.
Luckily I have Windows installed on my other Macbook via Bootcamp.
