Pawelec's Texture Special: Lime (UPDATE: v3.3 is up!)

Lime 3.3 is out! Scroll down to see the screenshots and the texture itself.

Limestone Grounds texture I released didn't satisfy me. I always wanted to have a texture with very light coloured, in fact almost white, rocks. I also wanted it to have nicely looking foliage parts. Finally I decided to make a new version of my limestone texture, this time almost from scratch instead of basing on the older version of Limestone Grounds. The result is the texture Lime3.0, which you can find here!

It is very different from the Limestone Grounds, so it has a new name. The name also reffers to the colour of the grass. Some MoFI textures were used to make sure everything will tile correctly. Also, it is my first texture made with Photoshop, which turned out to be much more powerful graphic tool than I thought.

If you like the texture and/or find it useful, don't hesitate in leaving a comment

Enjoy!

Changelog:

v3.1:
- desaturated basic grass texture,
- bare rock textures made slightly brighter,
- cobblestone texture darkened a bit, also some contrast reduced,
- bugfix: removed torch texture, which was put into 3.0 accidentally,
- added 3 bare rock variations with grass on the bottom,
- bugfix: fixed sand/grass connection bugs.

v3.2 (no need to redownload backgroundtex lime2.bmp - no changes):
- changed the stone floor texture to make it seamless (this is also a bugfix for stone/grass connection tiles),
- made all grass, sand and stone textures perfectly seamless (this means any flips and rotations of the same tile may be placed next to eachother and there are no seams),
-bugfix for shadowed tiles - the shadow no longer extends outside the tile.

v3.3 (no need to redownload backgroundtex lime1.bmp nor backgroundtex lime2.bmp - no changes):
- made the circular shadows look more natural,
- remade ice tiles so they look normally in-game,
- bare rock wall sides seamlessed,
- sandy shoreline tiles added.

This actually looks quite nice. Great revamp of the Wonderfall's texture! :D

Actually the only thing taken from there is the rocky floor tile, but it went through various modifications before reaching the final form. The wall texture is based on the jungle gray rock texture and I took sand texture from Limestone Grounds. The grass was hand-made in Photoshop.

Modifications I thought about (please vote if you'd like me to apply them):
1. Make the colours less vivid (I think the texture may hurt someone's eyes).
2. Make rocky floor tile easier to distinguish from the rocky wall (as you may have spotted they look hardly different in the screenshot no. 4).
3. Replace the brickwall texture set with its Wonderfalls yellow-brown version.
4. Reduce the contrast of the rocky floor tile (it looks very sharp in my opinion).

Oh, okay. It just assumed that from the rocky floor tile. :?
Very nice job though! You are an excellent graphics designer.

Exactly what I thought, so...
You can now download Lime3.1 from the first post!

As for the future, no tiles will be deleted so the texture versions are backward compatibile. Again, enjoy!

Any ideas what texture should I try to make next?

Nice work! Not sure why you have those reviews in the OP though, since it's pretty hard to get bad comments on any good WA Texture nowadays. :P

You're absolutely right, I removed them. Honestly I have no idea why I have put them there

It seems to be a difficult challenge... Give me some time and I'll test few ideas.
EDIT: It is harder than I expected - there are so many different types of deserts...

Most of the desert textures on the forum are golden. Maybe try for a white or orange desert?

v3.2 is up!

Lime v3.2 is out!

All the floor tiles are perfectly seamless now. you can put tiles with any rotation and flip aside and there will be no seams. Took few hours to make, so enjoy!

Inspired by Qloof's work, I decided to make a Faithful texture pack - more seamless version of MoFI/PotZ textures, as similar to the original as possible. This means DeSand will get an update soon, as I'd like to use the perfectly seamless version of the mud tiles, which I made from RedCave's cobblestone (?) texture that will be remade.

One more thing: if you'd like to use any tiles of my textures in your own textures, please PM me.

EDIT: unfortunately the works on the faithful pack are stopped for now. I have no idea if they are continued in the future.
EDIT2: Yes, they are. I'm working on them now, but I don't know how many changes the textures will go through. Leveltex cellar is a pain - it must have been the first texture, as it is just full of bugs...
EDIT3: You can download Faithful pack from the WA3 Custom Content section. Enjoy!
