Adventure: First Leaps

Return to archives :?:

Here's my first wonderland level-er, the first one since I redownloaded the editor, any ways.
Sorry if I am breaking what was supposed to be a large break in this section, but do note that I had no warning as to whether or not this would be dangerous or not.
Any how, I hope you enjoy.

The solution is here!

Nice adventure! It was a short but fun little diversion! :)

Nah, there's no real reason not to make adventures right now. It's just that everyone is burned out and tired of using the WA1E, so pretty much everyone is waiting for the WA3E at this point before they make more adventures. That's the reason why it has been so quiet in this section recently.

Finally got round to solving this level. :P

This was a nice little Brr puzzle! However, some buttons weren't necessary (such as the one in the fire flower area and the yellow timer)

Do continue making adventures! Never mind if they are difficult, just try not to make them too sadistic (you know what I'm talking about :P )

Yes, I do know what you're typing about...

Yes, I actually intended those buttons as lime herrings.

I enjoy being sneaky like that. :3

For instance, in my next RTW series, I've made a fair few things stuck in a rather confusing place to make you wonder "Well, is this useful or not?!?"
Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.

Oh... but I'm getting away from the point.
I thank you very much for playing this!
Hopefully I can get back into the mood of HOTSP once the POTZ editor comes out;
That, and once I figure out how to copy my game over, as well as rename file numbers, as well as figure out how to get custom music for a special easter egg I'd love to throw in.
But... as many seem to say...
that's a story for an other day.

Oh, I see.
But in my opinion, those weren't red herrings, as it didn't cross my mind that those buttons were supposed to be used at all, since it was rather obvious that those were redundant. ;)

Hences why I changed the colour.

I am actually, legitimately, stuck. I just run out of Brr too fast.

Really?

Would you like a video solution, off chance?

Hint:

I'll post the video solution any how; I've all ready recorded it. :P

OH MY GOSH! I just looked at your solution and realised...
There's a way to complete this with 7 Brr charges :o

Looks like I have been finding quite an amount of alternate solutions lately... :P

Oh, wow!

I don't know how I didn't think of that!

But... honestly, it's easier to believe than how I do think of some of the things I do.

Your way of getting the scritter onto the blue timer button with 2 Brrs (I used 4) is ingenious, though. I never thought of that.

Awww, thank you.

I wonder if we should do a tennis together, and see just how impossible we can make levels become.

I wouldn't mind, but I don't have any experience with the editor at all. :(
Maybe after the POTZ editor comes out? I am under the impression that the POTZ editor would come bundled with some tutorial levels so n00bs like me can better learn how to use it.
And about impossibility...
Nah, near impossible levels aren't that fun to play, unless they are action levels.

I should keep that at mind.

I all ready have 6 levels in the third world of the Sign planet, but...

half of them are ridiculously difficult, in my opinion.

These three are the last three I made, just after introducing Blink.

I'll probably make less aggrovating levels for when I have access to Grow and battlebots.
...
interperate that however you like.

Solved it by myself. *no hints used* It took me a good ten minutes, though this time. I liked the level though. The music didn't quite fit the background, but it was well-done for your first level. :) Hope to see more from you.

Whoa, wait. I think I need to clarify what I meant by impossible.
I like levels that are difficult to solve.
What I don't really like are levels that have you depend on timing or luck or both (hence making them near impossible).
If your levels are really difficult, and requires one to use massive brainpower, then go ahead and make them!

Err...

well, mine involve logic and timing...
in addition to action.

But luck? Umm...

I don't do that so much in my WA series so much as I innitially did in my RTW series. :P

Logic and timing are ok if they are nicely tied in with action levels :)
For example, a level with alternating bridges with a chomper chasing you wouldn't be very wise, would it ;)

Posted: Sun Feb 09, 2014 5:20 am
by Jutomi
Oh, no!
The level I am refering to is like...

well, getting a racing scritter across an alternating bridge(somewhat long delay), getting up there with him to make sure he stays up there(low delay), and then making sure you can get up and around while he's still doodling on a rotater - twice.

Err... you'll see once I bring out Beta; I don't want to show any pictures of the third section.

And in addition, I still say that scritter logic involves luck.
There might be a mechanic to it involving timing, but...
well, that's something I can't figure out. :|

Scritter timing is about how long you stay near the scritter, and how much time you have between its hops.

Posted: Sun Feb 09, 2014 4:57 pm
by Jutomi
Yeap, but scritter luck is which direction he'd go when you're at a diagnol, and he has two paths to choose from.
I just don't know how that works, but I fear I used quite a bit of it. :|
