Since we needed a new topic for weird research in WA3E, I made this.
Today while I was livestreaming, I found out that spellballs' Subtype determines their color. Not sure what their Type is yet, though.

So does SubType only control colour, or the spell's logic as well?
(I saw what you did in your stream, you are a genius btw)

SubType only controls the spell color, and also makes the spell behave like that color of magic.
Just found out a few minutes ago that Spellballs have a Type of 50.

to be honest i think my favourite part is the whole "stack floing bubbles/freeze flash in a bubble" stuff you've figured out how to do

Wow. Imagine the ridiculous potential this will have, and the even more ridiculous chaos this will cause. You've done it again MNIK!

I probably missed that part of the stream - I had to stop watching after my computer crashed. Would somebody mind explaining this to me?
Don't worry, my computer was fine after I finally shut it down after like five weeks of constantly being on

How did you do that?

He has a mouse that has a rapid click button IIRC.

Time to add this stuff to the powerwop list. Also, how did you change the glovecharge counter?!

That's, uh, not what he was asking.

Save file hacking.
But uh, I should probably put that stuff outside of the powerwop topic since it also has other uses.
Anyway, more logic crap I found.
350,0: GrowFlower (MOFI).
360,0: Floing Bubble (MOFI).
Plus some more crap about spellballs:
Data0: X target
Data1: Y target
The spellball simply dissipates if it reaches the tile described by Data0 and Data1. The spellball does not change its direction based on Data0 and Data1.

I used those Data things for the command-able spellball in MM III. (But it's in the second wlv, and no one has got there yet.

Ah, I didn't notice the number in the corner. Guess I shouldn't go on the forums in the early morning.

How on earth did you alter the spell ball's Subcolour? Did you use CMD 4, and if so, what values did you input?

I tried using CMD4 to change a spikeyball's logic to that of a spell. But the Spikeyball simply explodes and is briefly replaced by red magic. No bubble forms though.

I'm assuming it was -1 for spellballs in flight. What I'm curious about is how he managed to seemingly do the same thing for Magic Chargers...

Just to double-check: Spellballs have an ID of -1?
Yeah MNIK REVEAL YOUR SECRETS

but seriously I'm really intrigued.

samuelthx wrote:How on earth did you alter the spell ball's Subcolour? Did you use CMD 4, and if so, what values did you input?

CMD: 4
Data1: -1 (all spellballs have this ID by default)
Data2: 10 (altering subtype)
Data3: 3 (changes all spellballs' subtype to 3, i.e. grow magic)

Thanks! Sorry to keep leeching, but how did you do the same for the glove charges?
Also, do all products of magic (i.e. growflowers and floing bubbles) have ID -1 ?

Yes.

In your stream I
thought I saw you stepping on a Brr charger and having Floing charges instead. Those floing charges could be stacked in a bubble.
I suppose the default ID for everything not in the editor is -1?

Ah. What was going on there was that I had a mechanism that was constantly changing all spellballs into Floing spells. If a spellball gets cast into a Floing Bubble, the spellball will be stuck until the bubble bursts, even if the spellball gets turned into Floing during that time.
samuelthx wrote:I suppose the default ID for everything not in the editor is -1?
Yeah.

Yeah, I sort of guessed that mechanism was in place.
If my memory serves me well, I thought that when you stepped on a Brr charger your glove on the top left hand corner was red. Correct me if I'm wrong

Late response, but I meant spellballs themselves, not magic shooters.
samuelthx wrote:If my memory serves me well, I thought that when you stepped on a Brr charger your glove on the top left hand corner was red.
Hm, I don't think that ever happened.

Hmm, what happens if you change spellballs to Brr and the player fires a spellball, will it act like player Brr or will it be Perma-Brr?

freeze flash in a bubble
*remembers that MS specifically tried to disallow this because of bugs*
*imagines what happens if two flash balls hit the same object simultaneously, or two different objects simultaneously*
OOOOOOOOOOOH MYYYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
"Stack Floing bubbles" is also an epic idea. MNIK, you're a genius.
