I don't know if it'll work...
If it did, I missed it when I was searching the section.

Well, all CT (classic trilogy, remember this) soundtracks are available on the MS super CD game collection. (that I own). I could send them to you if this doesn't break the forum rules.

Maybe someone can talk to MS or can someone tell me how do I use the numbers of the OGG.files?

Huh. I'm planning a music pack which actually includes some of those music tracks--you can get them in .ogg format by using VLC. I hope its not illegal *looks around nervously*

Hi, if you want to use them in your custom levels, that's fine. Obviously, no use beyond is allowed.

Hey, guys, I've just thought of one thing. If we could get these as MIDI files, I can get access to my father's professional music software, such as virtual orchestra, so I can make MP3s which would sound as if they were recorded yesterday, not years ago. I PMed Patrick to ask if he has the MIDI version.

I doubt he has it, I think only the composer, Jonne Valtonen (I think) has the files. And even if he does, I doubt he'll give them to us. I do indeed have my own pro music program, so if anyone here is able to re-create the songs in MIDIs, then it'll be fantastic. Me personally, I can't do such a thing, but I think my father knows how to.

There are no MIDI files for the Classic Trilogy tracks and there never were.
If you open up certain "resX.dat" files (X is a number) in tracker software (like OpenMPT) you'll find the structure of the original music files. I don't remember the exact numbers, though.
It's all tracker music (I think the original format was .IT) and the basis is sample manipulation, not MIDI/plugin instruments. Some sounds may be exported from plugins, but we'll never know that, of course.
If you're prepared to do IT-to-MIDI conversions (and deal with a poorly structured MIDI with lots of weird quirks, half of which don't even WORK in most MIDI editors) or create a handmade MIDI file based on the IT file (and deal with all the headaches of doing that yourself), THEN you can do what you're describing. Otherwise, you're out of luck, as Jonne Valtonen is an expert at tracker music and the whole thing never was a MIDI file to begin with.

What a luck! My father had composed a lot of tracker music and I think he found a method to easily convert his pieces to MIDI. Now I wonder how to get the .it files from original Wonderland data...
EDIT: OK, nevermind, I managed to convert the files to MIDI, but there are two problems:
- major problem: there are thousands of program changes in midi tracks which link the tracks between all the instruments. I'd like to get rid of that and get all corresponding notes moved to the correct track,
- minor one: I need to somehow attach percussion instruments to the samples and it's not easy to guess which one is correct.

You will have to convert them. There is a wonderful program called
DVDVideoSoft Free Studio which lets you not only convert these files to the correct file, but it lets you convert pretty much any file in any file. It's a great app.
I'm however not sure if it converts files to .ogg, please let me know if it does or not. Hope this helps!

I'd go for
Audacity to convert between MP3 and OGG. To convert, import audio from MP3 file then export as OGG. To make sure the new OGG file works absolutely in every software, even the most primitive one, in the export window click the 'Clear' button if it's available (sometimes it isn't just because there's nothing to be cleaned).

Can you send me the midis so I could try to fix those issues?

To be honest I've already deleted the files as they turned out to be completely useless...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
By chance, could it still be in your recycle bin?
If not, then, could you tell me what did you do to extract the midis?
(Also, what do you mean by "completely useless"?)
