I tried a number of 'variations' in the first room and hit on one that worked but it felt awkward and rushed and not very 'Chip-like'.
I did hit on the proper technique (at least I think I did) and then moved on to the red button room where I was successful in bungling up a reasonably simple solution about five times before the light came on.
Great fun to solve, again a big thank-you.

Hi Bob,
I didn't need to rush in the first room.
And the moves seemed smooth to me.
We must have solved it differently.
Though I didn't spot another path.
Amnon, did you find more than one route?

The ones that I found were already blocked, so I truly hope there aren't any others. There are slight variations, but they make no real difference.
