I stole your level Amadeus - hope you don't mind :P I've had "Rock Me Amadeus" in my head all week for some reason. I could call it a tribute - if Brentnor get's one for creating a handful of levels I don't see why you shouldn't

Enjoy

Great tribute Lillie :D - a lot kinder to my brain cells than the original (still in my things-to-do file). I'm sure Amadeus will be thrilled - it almost looked like the real thing

You should start a series

Thanks

Kazza :) :)

OK it seems I have upset a couple of people with this level! This was never my intention

I really liked the look of Amadeus' previous levels. I also replied to one of his/her levels calling him/her "Rock Me Amadeus". I have since had this song in my head all week and felt the urge to make a level with this title.

I used the "tribute" phrase in my post merely as a joke! I am sorry Brentnor if you thought this was in some way nasty or derogative to you - that was CERTAINLY never my intention.

I really hate it when you do something and then some people take it all the wrong way when it was never your intention to offend. It seems so unfair when you just had an idea - then it all turns sour.

Sorry once again if this seemed in poor taste to some people.

I want to know how anything said here could upset anyone? I mean nothing was insulting, (in fact it was put up as a fun tribute to a new member who makes exceedingly interesting and challenging (but do-able) levels). Others have put up a tribute to other level makers in the past, what is so wrong in putting another one up? I'm gong to avoid the board for a while - its too stressful - though PMs will be recieved I'm not going to comment or read any new posts. This is NOT a flame to anyone - so DON'T take it that way :!: :!: :!:

Lillie-Poo - I interpreted this as harmless btw - the clooo being no less than 8 Smiley Laughing Faces. It actually inspired me to create a level, with affection, for a newcomer who makes fab levels (KAZZA129, coming soon to a forum near you)

Honestly ... ... relax folks - consider the context and ...

:D :D :D SMILE :D :D :D

Kazza :) :)

PS - Yeah - thanks Lil, I've got "Rock Me Amadeus" going on and on and on and on in my head too ... it's driving me KRAZEEEE

Lillian,

First off, your level is fantastic, and a very clever variation!

I am sorry Brentnor if you thought this was in some way nasty or derogative to you
Since you have decided to air this publically, here is my side of the story...
I could call it a tribute - if Brentnor get's one for creating a handful of levels I don't see why you shouldn't
My take on your comment, is that you didn't think I deserved a tribute based on the amount of levels I created.

I stole your level Amadeus

This level that you made as a tribute to Amadeus is actually using the "cannon not firing trick" I used in my Hidden Agenda level, which I know you were aware of since you helped Jordan32 out with this particular problem.
Amadeus used it in his Deception 2 sequel, as a friendly reminder to me, which he pointed out in his thread.

I thought you might be taking a jab at me for incorporating the "wooden box on the teleporter" that Amadeus had originally used and then dedicating it to him in Hidden Agenda.

Actually I received permission from Amadeus' to use his idea in my "Hidden Agenda" level before posting it. I dedicated it to him as thank you gesture for letting me use it. I would never steal a level idea or custom model without asking permission from its author first.

But as someone once said: "Imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery."

Best Regards,
Brentnor

Brentnor, are you trying to say that the 'cannon not firing trick' is your invention? Cause if you are you are sadly mistaken. This 'trick' has been in use since long before you came on board. The same thing goes with UFOs.

The wooden box on the teleporter is not new either. In fact, there are very few new things around at all.

Plus I don't think anyone should need permission to use 'tricks' that are part of the level editor. When someone first discovers a quirk, it's open for anyone else to utilise.

Sorry for being so negative.

Invention? Never said that. It was something I discoverd on my own, and used recently, and seems to be the source of two even more recent 'copies'.
Let's face it, the bottom line is, that Amadeus & Lillian only used it because of my "Hidden Agenda" level. And I always believe in giving credit to where credit is due.
Amadeus gave me the credit.

I don't think what was a private matter should be discussed here in the forum ...
that is another reason I have decided to leave.

I don't like cliques, arguments, and politics.

I may have got the wrong end of the stick here, or you may have, but the 'cannon not firing trick' I mean was discovered months and months ago. Well before you were here. Believe me, I'm not trying to belittle you. Just pointing out a fact. If I knew which level it was first used in I would point you to it, but I can't remember. I think it may have been one of Malcdelsol's ones though.

If anyone can remember which one it was, please let us know. Or any other examples from ages ago for that matter.

Actually, it probaby wasn't before you were here, but before you started making levels.

No. It was used before then.

It has been used by Mo in here Bonfire night level last year, and by Stinky Hood before that.

Are you sure Malc's wasn't 2004?

I remember Malc's cos I couldn't do it  .. his was this year.

Mo's was "Guy Fawkes" .. 5th November 2004 ... and I can't do that one either !!

The "cannon can't fire" trick has been around for awhile and used by several creators prior to Brentnor's use of it. So it is not new. If I remember right, the fire/flame was introduced with RTWD and that was in July/August of 2004. If I understand the mechanism for this trick, you have to have the fire/flame in order to prevent the cannon from firing.

I aired this publicly incase anyone else had been as offended as you obviously had.

brentnor wrote:My take on your comment, is that you didn't think I deserved a tribute based on the amount of levels I created.
I am sorry if you read my remark in that way - it was NEVER my intention to insinuate that you shouldn't have a tribute after a few levels! People get tributes for their birthdays, for having Chicken Pox, for passing their driving tests, for having a tooth pulled, etc. We always enjoy custom levels whatever the reason! I post "CONGRATS" in the Gen Forum for people who have made 10 posts!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! What on earth is all this about????????? How on earth have you got all this into your head?????? This is the bit that I SO don't understand? Why are you talking about who used what first? Who cares? You have COMPLETELY taken what I said SO out of context it is untrue! I didn't think for one minute about what was in the level - who stole what - who used what first? AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH! I am now having a nervous breakdown!

Please Brentnor - FORGET who first used which box/where/cannon/TP/non-firing/UFO/nonesense - where are you coming from? How did you even think this?

Again - SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY that you took what I said out of context. Please chill, relax, don't leave the forum, carry on making FAB levels - and above all - give us a kiss

God only knows what Amadeus is going to think of all this

Just to add my two-penny-worth:

Brentnor - PLEASE DON'T LEAVE THE FORUM. You make uniquely crafty and creative levels. Doesn't matter where or when any idea comes from, it's how it's put together differently by each level maker. And you should know that Lillie is a big joker and would never want to hurt anyone.

'Nuff said. I wonder if Amadeus likes his/her tribute level? 8)

BTW Lillie-poos I can't do it yet. Still trying.

EDIT: Finally got through this one, having run into the secret looking for bonus coins  This was fun Lills, thanks.

Lillian,

I accept your apology. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
My retiring from level-making was something that I had planned awhile back.
It has nothing to do this.
I've been stressing and going thru alot of personal stuff.
I just need a 'mental vacation' right now.
Forgive me for over-reacting. :?

When the time is right, and things settle down,
I will post a new level.

Your Friend,
Brentnor

Finally getting back to some earlier levels, but I've given up on ever getting
caught up. I enjoyed this one Lillian, the chomper didn't worry me
one bit, I chose to keep him penned up. I knew what the little trick
was going to be, based on the title, so from there it was just a question of
doing the things that needed to be done. Well constructed! And well thought
out, I enjoyed this one. :D
