when u want 2 create a bigger level, you click on the button that increases the level size. It works. but when you want to DEcrease the size, what happens? the level... GROWS! Oops...

That's not a glitch

When you left-click the arrows you expand the level in the direction of the arrow. When you right-click the arrows you make the level smaller in the direction of the arrows.

Yeah that confused me a lot at first too.

If you really need the level to be smaller, simply use wall, water, lava, tower, black, X, scenery items, and whatever other things can avoid the character from wandering where you don't want it. Or just maybe expand it into a little area with a puzzle for bonus coins, or some other challenge.

Yes, now I know that. My friend (We two are a pair of Wonderland nuts!) told me that.
