A request.

Can I ask everyone, for the time being, to stop asking me for models. I am having great problems seeing the models in the game since I got this new pc. The textures won't show up. Therefore, I can't test models to see if they are ok.

I am waiting to see if it gets rectified when the new edition comes out. Until then the only models I can be sure of working are ones that don't have a seperate texture file, but I don't know if things that you ask me for will have textures or not so I can't promise to do them.

It's also very frustrating not being able to do them properly, and asking me for things that I may not be able to do is getting to me a bit.

Sorry to sound depressing, but let's hope it all gets back to normal soon. I will let you know if and when that happens.

Thanks for listening. :)

I understand your difficulty Poops but what about the hundred models you promised to make for me?

After all, a promise should never be broken. :P :P :P

Hi Popo,

just saw this mention of your troubles - here's something to try (since you say some models do show up with textures). Open the textures that came with the model and resize them - try either 128x128 or 256x256, definitely square and a power of 2. GeForce cards can be horribly iffy when it comes to what shape exactly they want their wonderland textures in. In fact, part of the work in the 2.06 patch was to make all of the textures into these standard sizes.

Right-o Patrick, I'll go through them and see if the ones that don't work are odd sizes.

I'm willing to try anything to get it to work again, it's like being told you can never eat chocolate again.

Whoohoo!!!! :D :D :D

Patrick you're a genius!! :D :D

I've just tried it out on one level with 4 models. One of the models was already 256 x 256 and I could see that one. Two of the others were rectangular so I made them square and the other one was square but not a binary number so I altered that. Now they all show up perfectly. :D :D

I now have the mammoth task of going through them all and changing the ones that aren't right, but I don't care if I'm up all night doing it, I am such a happy bunny.

Yes I would say it's safe to go back in the water now.

I've still got a lot of the folders to sort out, but changing the jpgs hasn't not worked yet, so I'm confident it's sorted out.

From now on when I do a model with textures I will make sure it's in the right format and then everyone who wants to should be able to see them with no problems. I would urge anyone else doing textures to do so too.

If you have a rectangular texture say 200 x 300 pixels that has already been mapped to the model, you can resize it to 256 x 256 without it causing any distortion on the model even though it will look strange to you as a jpg. The game will stretch it out again so it looks normal.

It may not work the same if you are replacing one texture with another, as some of you do, unless you can stretch it out to original size first, then replace the texture, then shrink it back again. Am I getting too technical now? :?

Anyway, normal :?: service has been resumed.
