Anyone else?

Post by janetgalle » Tue Aug 03, 2004 8:52 pm

Hi all,

It's not that I don't enjoy making these houses  (can you tell I like it?).....

But isn't anyone else gonna give it a try? It is a lot easier than making a custommodel house. (Which you have to make from scratch, or modify, or resize, or x-y-z-plane, or whatever. )

Altho I did download LinkynStoofs tutorial on custom modeling, and I am getting closer to doing something with it!

If you would like to make one, but don't know how, let me know.....I'll try to explain it!

jg

ps: I just got some new Paint Shop extras.....lots of cool toys in that one!!

Hi Janetgalle,
In about 3 to 3 1/2 months when I get layed off-----that's the first thing I want to do. Learn how to make my own stuff :D I've enjoyed seeing all the cute houses and objects......very frustrated not to have time. . . . especially your 'spooky' houses, they are so neat. Please keep up the good work and pick up my slack
Yes, I'm a donkey......
and I'm purple.....
and I am Polly, Minnie's little sister.

Hi Janetgalle,

I really want to try but I am a little apprehensive...I thought I was computer savvy until I started trying to create stuff in Wonderland...

I am envious of you for the talents you produce in your levels. They are so GREAT :!:

I can't even figure out how to hide things in the regular houses, let alone create my own customs!

I'm having trouble getting my levels to my satisfaction, so it could be a while before I have time to sit down and finish my Alphabet series.

Doesn't help that my work is overwhelming, and the weather hasn't been that great, so when I do have the energy, and the sun is shining, I'm outdoors for as long as I can be. I actually had to dust off the monitor the other day!

Computer problems aren't helping with my Editor time either. Stupid Kernal32.dll errors...guess it's time to replace "Fred" and get a new comp.
I'm not as think as you drunk I am...*Hic*

Ooh, that doesn't sound too good, does it happen frequently?

Maybe you should run a disk check. I used to have a laptop, running WinXP, that was working ok, until one day the hard disk, and Windows in general, becomes really sluggish, and I keep getting frequent crashes in situations where before it was working fine. And I hadn't installed anything new at the time. In short, my laptop was nearly unuseable--it can barely manage to get to the desktop from startup w/o crashing, and even when it did, almost anything I did soon grind the computer to a halt or a crash.

I almost thought my laptop was a goner, until eventually I managed to have it run long enough to get scandisk running. Once it was able to run scandisk, guess what? It detected like tons of disk errors! You would've thought that someone really scramble up the information on the hard disk from the list of "bad sectors" it keeps finding. But apparently they are all fixable, and after the disk scan was finished (about several hours), my laptop was back to normal.

This may or may not solve your problem but it's worth a try. Reinstalling Windows might also work. Kernal32.dll is a part of Windows.

If you have a computer-savvy friend, ask them for some hands-on help or at least some suggestions.

Of course, if your computer is several years old, getting a new one is also a possible option.

Just wanted to say that I will probably only ever see any of the models in the games that everyone creates. I want to put some of the models in my games when I create them, but I am not even sure how to do that. Soooo......creating my own houses or models, it ain't gonna happen!!

When it comes to putting in houses and what not, I can only do the default ones that are in the editor, I have no clue as to how to change them into some of the ones that have been created. And I must say all of the creations that different ones have made are really cool and I wish I had even an infraction of that talent. I will just sit here and play the games and enjoy everyone elses stuff. Keep up the good work everyone. You all have tons of talent and creativity. Thanks!! :D

Hmm...that won't do at all!  I can understand the difficulties of dealing with your own 3D models, but making custom houses should be something that's relatively accessible to everyone, IMHO. I think it's time I make another tutorial post w/ pictures, like that one I did for downloading custom models. Busy at the moment, but maybe next week...you wait and see...

LinkyNstoof,

You are so incredible :D That tutorial post that you did last time was perfect! If you did this one I don't know what we would do

The only thing I can offer to you is a :D and my undying gratitude

If you don't have time please don't worry. I am sure we can figure it out eventually  :?

Hey L/S!

I think the biggest problem I have with the computer is that Ted insists on running Windows ME    It's been a thorn in my computer chair all along. He doesn't have problems with the computer at all, but then he doesn't use it as often as I do, nor does he play games, or run Office programs.

I think he's finally realized just how frustrating this problem is when he had to stop me from using my chair to beat the gigabytes out of the comp after my third crash in an hour!

I've spoken with the heroic admins at work, and both of them said it's the Windows ME that is probably the biggest problem. They tried it in the office, but it didn't work properly with the legal program and the email system we run. So, half the computers run 98, and the others run XP.

I'm also hoping that we can get a new computer, but with building the house (which still hasn't gone further than hunting for land), a major hike in our car insurance, my student loans, and 2 ATV payments, a fancy new computer just isn't viable right now.

So, I will continue to run my disk checks, close programs I don't need, do a regular defrag every other week, check for spyware every second day, and curse when I crash.

Maybe if I tell Ted it's ME or me, he'll get rid of it.

It's becoming a bone of contention around here. I wonder how many other couples have broken up over Windows ME?

Jersey,

John and I both had ME, it IS a pain in the nether regions!

After all my problems with installing XP, I ended up buying a new computer and installed XP into it, no bother at all.

What a difference, it's great!

Now I'm back to scratch with Wonderland, a lot of catching up to do.

Hope you get sorted out soon.

One thing I will say, try to run scan disk a couple of times a week.
It's amazing how things get all mixed up within days.

I used to run the thorough test overnight, it takes so long, but it's worth it.
