SPAM

Post by majic1 » Sun Aug 08, 2004 3:47 pm

Each morning when I check my email (either at home OR at work), my inbox is filled with spam - more and more every day. There are a lot of things you can do to control it, but nothing completely works & it's getting worse all the time. It's VERY annoying as most people know. But when I go to the forum, there's just lots of messages from people I like, usually interesting stuff on a subject we all have in common. NOT LATELY! The last few weeks when I check the forum each morning, I feel as if I being SPAMMED on the forum. The amount of senseless posts is completely out of hand. Most of them are one- or two-word posts such as "he-he" "ok" "ha" "hi" "huh" - and so on. OR someone is begging for comments. We ALL do this once in awhile, and that's part of talking to each other - but when the majority of posts is this garbage, it's totally annoying. All new levels are either at the bottom or completely out of sight. So now I have to go to "view posts since my last visit"??? First, I shouldn't HAVE to do that, and second, I still get all the garbage. Sifting through all this "stuff" and trying to find the posts of interest has become very time consuming - new levels are lost, posts from people with something to say are lost. It has become extremely discouraging to even post a level anymore. Haven't you all noticed the decline in new levels from some of our really good level makers?? And some aren't making levels at all anymore. This isn't right!

The basic purpose for this forum originally was for general discussion on Wonderland and on levels. This has turned into a few people's email program. This kind of stuff should be reserved for instant messenging, emails or PM's. WHY post it in the forum???

I completely disagree with having "rules" for levels that are posted, but I think it may be a good idea for just basic, "common sense" rules for posting on the forum - if for no other reason than to get it back "on track" as it used to be.

OKAY - I'M READY FOR THE BACKLASHING I SHALL PROBABLY GET FROM THIS POST!!

If you look at Kaboom's thread, you will see my comments.

This is what I tried to put across, not in as many words but, the context
is similar.

I have noticed that a lot of the regular level makers haven't been posting.
At least, not the same volume as before.

We are all here for fun AND laughter, that's what made this forum so good.

Let's just hope that we can return to Wonderland, as it was!

Yeah I hope so too...
I've been posting levels in the classic forum, and I'm getting replies, but levels aren't spewing out at a normal rate... and I am not talking about any neglection either
level production is almost as slow in the deluxe forum too... sigh...
