New Level: (Adv) The Storytelling Maharani

Post by Mahaloof » Thu Sep 06, 2007 5:27 pm

I intended to post this after the completion of Pirate Quest, but that may take quite a while (lucky us!) So here it is: just pretend PQ is over and Liz is looking for something new to play around with...
(This paragraph will self-destruct after the PQ finale)

Just outside of the sweet little town of Mayhem you'll find the largest concentration of Chalcedony (a quartz variety) in the world. It sticks some 430 feet straight up in the air. Years ago a few residents decided to live up there, Far From the Madding Crowd and Thomas Hardy, the mayor of Mayhem. This is where dear Liz goes to meditate and think about her next steps in Wonderland. I did my best to recreate the location as accurately as possible, with the use of Google maps...

This is my tribute to the Storytelling Maharani, our Liz. BIG HUG!! :D

Woo hooooooooooooo another level :D :D

Been at this for a bit and found no problems so far  well okay maybe just a little one with the cracked spiky floor   99.9% of the time it's me and IT!

I'm about halfway and the red dude keeps taking me out of the running Image but I'm still working on it.

Just wanted to say thank you for another beautiful level, loved the texture :D :D

Edit: Red Dude - history

Totally awesome puzzler all the way and I simply loved the ending. You really are a good story teller :D Excellant tribute to Liz, she'll be tickled :P Thank you for this ace adventure. :P :P

What an epic level
Had the biggest problems with the ice slide and the spikes and with the red dude. That doesn't mean I solved the other parts without any troubles
I admit to have peeked into the editor for the bonus coins

Finally made it to the exit with gold. Thanks for some braintwisting fun :D

I guess you'll get some protest concerning the exit sign

:D :D :D Another epic masterpiece Loofah, I just spent about three hours making my way thru this incredible level,

I had very little trouble with the spikes, Only about a dozen restarts.

It was the dreaded angry red dude that gave me lots of anguish, I finally quit doing something stoopid.
I must admit to looking in the editor to find a certain bonus coin
I was a bit relieved that the ending was not as hard as it looked,
It feels great to finish this, Like I really accomplished something.
I have a feeling that a certain someone will have something to say about that exit sign. Hehe!
Brilliant original moves here with some top notch story telling, Thanks for an excellent challenge. :D :D :D
Cheer mate, Carry on! :D :D :D

Red dude not a problem for me because I was so frustrated with what I thought was going to be a restart that I actually got him the first time.

And now here I am looking at a pretty pond wondering how in the world I get to the other side. I guess it's back to the beginning for me. Maybe I forgot to do something important WAY early that's supposed to make the exit work for me? Or, maybe I'll never know what that last sign says and I'll wander around the pretty stones.

But even as difficult as it is, I still tink it's brilliant and compelling to play. Cause here I go back into it.

EDIT: Oh, yeah!!!!!!!! I guess making sure you have everything you need is always a good way to go. Going back to the beginning and searching EVERY nook and crannie ended up providing a surprising result. Shouldn't have been surprising. I mean, come on - it's displayed in the corner of every game I've ever played. Managed to come across that boonus coing that way, too.

Favorite part was the magical flight through space and time resulting in the you know what you know where. Now you see it, now you don't. Although in this case it's backwards, isn't it? I gotta go figure out how you did that.

Very excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I will now compile a list of all the areas in this puzzle that did not give me gobs of trouble or cause me many restarts:

-the yellow button

That is all, thank-you for coming out.

BTW, I didn't know Thomas Hardy became the Mayor of Mayhem! I used to read about his adventures with his brother when they were younger. :D

Help from the Goobie Brothers: "All the time, listen to the Gooooobie!"
  Oh, never mind... :?

First, don't jump into the house. You'll be cheated on the money front.
So it's one, two, back, and then jump again. The right Goobie Brother goes right, the left goes left. Now approach the Chief from the right and get that Plasma Brother out of there.....

We'll talk again at the next junction! :D :D :D Have fun!!!

YEP! You are right! 8)

Sorry about being so thick at the first part! I was doing that jump back, but thought I had to keep the goobies "alive" as it were!

Now I am stuck at the wood box by the white button. I covered the white button and couldn't get any further! I tried to push it into the water somehow but couldn't!

Also, do I push that goobie up near the stranded wood box on the ice just by the light blue timer?

Confoozled of Londimium!

This is the toughest part of the level and I DO realize it's tough.
As far as I know it's not possible to get a woodbox onto the violet/purple button on the left. So it has to be a Goobie Brother. They do not go up near the stranded woodbox...

Secondly, placing a woodbox on the white button is the last thing you'll do before jumping to pastures greener.
Do the houses first and get all the coins. Get a Goobie Brother onto the purple button and make a psychedelic journey through space. Only then do you handle the stranded woodbox. But how?

Hope this helps...

Oh Mahaloof!
How kind of you to devote a level to the Maharani Mayhew of Mayhem.

Image

The texture mix is out of this world.

The huts are my design so thanks for using them.
You'll find them on the Cannibal Islands of Pirate Quest! :piratewink:

Back later ... :D :D

EDIT: a GAZILLION tries later I got the first part done, then something completely magical happened and now I'm stuck:
I got the wooden box generator to start after a lot of exploration and going through the black TP via the fake walls, then I end up beside the pink button covered by the goobie. A wooden box is generated by the cyan timer, but I can't make it over there in time to push it on the white button before the cyan gate closes. There's another way to get there if I destroy the other wooden box last but I'm still not quick enough.
Am I on the right track, or barking up the wrong pillar of chalcedony?

Your signs are hilarious BTW! :piratelol:

MULTIPLE MUSE EDIT: Don't worry about the above - I realise what I was doing wrong. Will be back at the next impasse.

Gonna have to try again tomorrow as my head hurts now! :o

Oh yes - I had to peek in the editor and see what was behind the houses - how are we supposed to know what is in there buster - c'est impossibleeeeee

Wonderful and fantabulous so far Loofy - many thanks :D

I'm as far as Lillie is and I don't have a clue what to do with it all. Well maybe a little one but the sphere won't do what I want it to, it keeps ending up over to the left going back and forth on the ice. A bit of help please.

You'll find them on the Cannibal Islands of Pirate Quest!
I have been in the Editor for so long, that I'm way behind with a load of everything, including PQ. I did download the levels and that's how I found the huts when I was looking for Houses. Just fab, Liz... 8)
the mental mental chicken oriental ice/plasma/spike malarky thingybobby
When you have finally silenced the awful Plasma generator and peace returns to Mayhem-on-Top, the MMCOIPSMT can be dealt with in several ways. Here's my version:
After the spikes have gone down step onto the ice and jump down right away. Two boulders into the drain and... wait for the spikes... jump back and wait until the Plasma gets destroyed by the spikes. Move right and get the coin, then move up to avoid the returning Plasma and bömp it onto the spike spot. Follow right behind and use it as a bömper to jump right.
Oh yes - I had to peek in the editor and see what was behind the houses - how are we supposed to know what is in there buster
Now wait a minute, grrrmphh! You múst suspect something is behind the houses, because how else are you going to get the coin next to the white button? It's an exit, yes? So there!
the sphere won't do what I want it to, it keeps ending up over to the left going back and forth on the ice
That's very creative, Monica, but it doesn't bring in any dough, of course... :D You really need to train your Spheres to do what you want it to, dear. Otherwise they get the upper hand and that's pretty ugly. I have one sphere at home that irons my shirts. It's a Steam Sphere. Another butters my sandwiches and a third one hangs on the wall, lighting my living room with a soft red glow at night. It's an AtmoSphere...

OK, now for the pzzl:
the rebellious blue Sphere needs to behave (tut, tut!) and go over the red timer again and again. Obviously you need an item to create a loop somehow. One hint: it's not the Explosible...
Good luck!! :D :D :D :D

Got past the blue sphere bit - what an ingenious path it takes!

Now I'm stuck at the red dude. I got all the prisms exploded and the steel boxes are released, but the red dude is still alive and I can't get at a steel box without being crushed.

Very tired now.

So happy to say my quest to finish this one has come to an end. But what sort of quest would it be if I didn't just have to do it again since I missed one elusive bonus coin. If I would have listened to the voices in my head I would have checked up yonder, but listening and doing are two separate things and sometimes my brain just doesn't comprehend.

I know exactly how Liz accomplished her task
I got all the prisms exploded and the steel boxes are released, but the red dude is still alive
I did the same thing, then I just thought I'd try something just for the heck of it and you know what, it worked. Getting the little blue guy to do my bidding was another story, I was almost wishing I'd let the red dude kill him, but alas I needed to keep him around.

Great level, great story. So happy to have finished and gotten to the end. Thank you Mahaloof.

Forgot to mention- I peeked in the editor also...so there....

Rescuefire, you múst quiet the generator, otherwise life in Mayhem-on-Top will be unbearable and the residents will move down below. And since there's a housing shortage going on in Mayhem already, they will ALL end up being homeless, or worse: working for the government...

So try this:
The very last and lonely little woodbox needs to be destroyed in order to activate another generator. It doesn't always work the first time. In that case, destroy the next woody blocky too...
I know exactly how Liz accomplished her task
Well, certain things will always remain a mystery to me... *sigh*
So here's the giveaway:
I just step into the reflector and wait a few seconds...

My mistake was stepping back too quickly!
No courage you see ...

Still working on it.

EDIT: Hours and hours later, I've got all the way to the end, but I can't exit. The generators stop before getting to the exits and I don't see what I can do to get there.

Dancing for joy around here.
What a fantastically complex level Mahaloof.

uneekrose wrote:Liz, you didn't wait long enough. Next time just wait for it, the solution will come to you.
Monica - I'd have waited until Divali but still nothing would happen, because I was missing one coin! Have to admit that I looked in the Editor to see what I was missing, as I'd done the level at least 100 times without finding it.

The end was like Manna from Heaven I can tell you! Excellent effect 8)

Thanks Mahaloof. Big hug! :D :D

Ah-ha

I didn't realize you needed all the coins for the last part. I had missed a bonus coin but I guess the last coin opens a gate which made things happen. Well, will wonders ever cease? This was just one of those editor peeking levels. Create it and we will peek......
