Happy Thanksgiving to Canada.

My older sister is headed that way to visit my Aunt Evangeline. I have several relatives that live up in Canada who I met at a cousins funeral about 40 yrs. ago and have never seen again, only heard about or seen photos.

But like I'm the one to talk.
By the way, here we have something called "Mathan Thora" and if you replace the R with a D you get "Mathan Thoda" which translates as "Thanksgiving" in Hebrew!

Thanks for the well wishes for us Canucks (and Happy Turkey Day to all my fellow Canadians eh?!) Image
I found this little tidbit of info to perhaps help you understand our strange ways up here!!

"The date of Thanksgiving has changed numerous times through the years until finally in 1957 Parliament proclaimed....."that the 2nd Monday in October"........"be a Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed.".

In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November according to a declaration by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. If you think about it this does make sense - since in Canada we have a shorter growing season and our harvest is sooner than in the US - our Thanksgiving celebrations should be earlier to celebrate the harvest time. "

Ah that makes a lot of sense! I'm only a few hours from the Canadian border and everyone here talks with a Canadian accent I feel like ya all are great neighbors!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you eh?
