~~~~2008 Holiday Contest Rules~~~~
As most of you know, Emmy & I are organizing this year's Holiday Contest
Our thought is to combine the Christmas & New Year's Holiday Season so puzzles could be themed around this entire festive period. For those of you who haven't decided yet, please join in the level-making fun.
Contest rules will be followed as detailed below:
1. All Entries should be mailed or sent by PM to either Cathy (
jcvalcar2@aol.com) or Emmy (
emmyran@aol.com) by December 18th at 12 midnight EST. Make sure to include your forum name in the subject so we know who you are.
2. Make sure your name is no-where in the level, but make sure to tell Cathy/Emmy who made what.
3. The level has to be Holiday themed.
4. No size and difficulty restrictions- (however, please don't make the levels too huge or too full of items that it could cause an error while loading) but try to make it Fun, Fun Fun!
5. No hex editing.
6. Textures/models/backgrounds allowed but not required.
7. Each person can only be involved in the making of 2 entries. (If you join a chain level, you can also make a solo level -- OR submit 2 solo levels).
8. Using old models/houses, etc. is allowed (but if someone uses, for instance, an old JG model this will not be considered as JG taking part in that entry).
9. Test, Test, Test your levels for solvability
More Rules
1. Above all - this is primarily a competition for fun! No cheating, no copying, no other nastiness. Play nice!
2. You may not post the level for comments or feedback before the competition closes. After the levels have been posted, you may not indicate which one was made by you.
3. Just in case (!), MS reserves the right to disqualify level entries, if necessary.
When all the entries are received we will post them on the Puzzles/Action Forum and the scoring can begin.
Scoring
a. Scores must be sent by PM to Cathy (jcvalcar2) or Emmy (Dizzy1) by January 3rd at 12 midnight EST.
b. Side Contest - Guesses on who made what level should be sent by PM to Cathy (jcvalcar2) or Emmy (Dizzy1) by the same deadline date.
c. You must give each puzzle a score from 1 to 10 (10 being the best). You can also use the decimal point system -- i.e., 7.5, 8.3, etc.
d. The levels should be judged on inventiveness, fun and Holiday Themeness.
e. Anyone can score the levels, but if you score one, you must score them all.
Have fun, and good luck!!!
We will collect and tabulate scores along with your guesses to the Side Contest, and post the results/announce winners on January 4th, 2009.
Special Note
.......Patrick has been kind enough to offer a
PRIZE.
I'd be happy to provide a free copy of WAMOFI to the winner"
Thank you Patrick
Are you game? Let's start the Holiday Season off with Wonderland Fun!!!
So all you Excellent levelmakers please put on your "Thinking Caps" & get working on those Holiday Puzzles.
Side Contest:
Send in your guesses as to who did which level. Emmy and I have been busy trying to send pm's out to as many past and present level makers as we could, so this will be a little tougher since you won't actually know who all participated, although some folks have stated so in this thread (and others).
Your entry should look something like this:
#1 - Username
#2 - Username
#3 - ...
...
#23 - Username
Scoring is as follows:
* You get 1 point for every name in the list that actually did submit a level! (e.g. you guess BruceB did #1. He didn't, but he did submit a level, that's 1 Point for you). If you also put down BruceB for #2, you still only get one point.
* You get 4 points for every entry that is correctly identified (e.g. you guess BruceB did #1, and he really did. That's 4 points for you). If you put BruceB down for both #1 and #2, you'd only get 4 points for guessing #1, but no additional points for #2. This might affect your strategy... you might in fact want to put down a name several times. Or not.
Entries are due for the Side Contest on January 3rd, 2009 as well (as are the scores for the levels).
Best of luck to you all and more importantly have fun!
Enjoy your Holiday Season
Cathy and Emmy
