the screenshot below shows where I could reach. But beyond that point are, again, 2 chompers.
What is the solution to get ride of those 2 and get those extra coins??

The same way as in the ascent. I found this one very tricky too, you just have to trial and error.

What I need to do is, of course, lure the chompers behind the vines and make sure I'm not anymore. But the question was how do I get the TWO behind the vines.

Stay at the northern border and go first to the right, collect 1 gem,so the chompers come the two aside the vines.
Return to the pussed button and then go straight down to the rocks. The chompers will enter both from below.
Then collect the gems and leave at the right. One chomper gives up when entered and stays in the middle. The other tries to catch me but the vines raise up in time.

Have you noticed too that when you entered an Adventure in the Jungle and you can 'leave' that level, you're suddenly on a new level, platform within the Vulcano?

The following tip is also possible in previous levels:
don't wait until something happens,
just run for it and get out of that dangerou zone as fast as you can.

Sigh. . . I'm having no luck whatsoever getting the two chompers behind the vines so I can get the coins and escape. I've tried to follow Salin's hint and I've also tried experimenting in various ways, but cannot get both chompers contained. Any more hints for me???

This was tricky indeed. All I can say is that you need to pay attention to how the chomps moves, and when the vines go up or down.

When you release chomps, and you're in the bottom end of vines, you'll have to move one step right to get the other chomp inside. Run up and around the curve. I truly hope this will do the trick[color]

To be honest, I did it so many times that I'm not sure this works.

Well, I'm not sure HOW I did it, but I did it nonetheless! And I doubt seriously that I could ever do it again. lol Thanks for all the tips!

I hate those fast chomps, I am really stuck on this level. I've tried and tried and just can't be safe. Any more help as I am desperate.

Let them in at the bottom, when the first is in, you need to take one step to the right to let the other one in, then quiklcy go left-up (to close all vines, and run to the rightmost opening. Run fast out of it to close the vines again. It'll take a few tries, at least it did to me

Collect the coins in the alley on the right too. Don't forget!
