I did get a receipt (an email) thanking me for entering and wishing good luck about 2 minutes after I posted my question.

Are you sure you emailed yours to the right address mette? The address was given on the Competition Rules page.

jg

Just emailed littlejg's entry and received a receipt right away for his also.

Thankyou Inspector C 8)

This is unbelieveable... go to bed for one night & get accused of the most horrendous crime - stealing Paulines textures  - yes, I did hear you!

Just lucky for you girls I'm a nice guy (an big enough & ugly enough to take it)

I didn't get a receipt either.

I sent my entry to comp0401@midnightsynergy.com that's the address on the web site.

Jg, does your email programme ask for a receipt as standard? Mine doesn't.

I sent mine late last night, then noticed a mistake. Are we allowed to send an edited version?

Robbie, You're not ugly!!

Mind you, I have seen better looking wombats.  :P

PS. We've been thinking of a cruise to Australia, Tazmania and New Zealand next year between January and March. Don't suppose you feel like telling me what the weather's usually like then, do you? Pretty please. :D :D

Competition Entries are posted!

http://www.midnightsynergy.com/comp/0401

Seventeen entries in all - some wonderful creations in there! Quality over Quantity was definitely the name of the game. Although I must admit I had hoped for more entries (holiday season too hectic, perhaps?), the really good news is that, as a result, everybody who entered wins a prize! :) Gotta like that! ;) There is however, still a need to vote to determine the three grand prize winners, as well as the order in which runner-ups can pick their prizes.

Also, even though there were fewer than twenty entries we will still proceed with a $20 per entry donation to Earth Share based on twenty entries (i.e. $400).

Enough talk from me - head over there and check out the entries. I have left off names and descriptions of entries for now in order not to influence any opinions, although I'm sure you can figure out who some of the entries belong to. 8) After Jan 31st I will post winners and names (unless you have let me know that you wish to remain anonymous).

A big thanks to everyone who participated - it really made my day to look at each entry!

Question for Patrick.

When you say vote for your 3 top entries, do you mean in order of preference like 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Or just the three we like the best but in no particular order.

I ask this because I was going to vote for one out of each group of things. E.g. one level, one artistic, and one other. Because I can't judge a level against a poem, say. So the three that I vote for won't be in any particular order. Is that ok?

Yes, that's fine - just indicate that your Top 3 have "equal ranking". So either give me a list of three, unranked, or a top 3 in order (#1, #2, #3).

Congratulations to all the entrants, there's some smashing stuff here.

I'm still working my way through them, not easy at all!

Nice drawings by the children, well done kids. :)

I'll get back again when I finally get through the levels, at least this sets the ball rolling.

Has everyone gone to the moon and left me behind?

M.A.D. - I suspect maybe everyone else is doing the same thing ...... trying out some of the levels that came with the competition.

I would like to echo your comments directed to all entrants. Congratulations to all of you! There are some outstanding and diverse entries, it's only a shame that every entry can't take first prize.

I agree Roger, maybe it's just as well there were only 17 entries, we would never get anyone back to the forum.

I have finished a couple of levels, gosh they were BIG!

Must get back to the others now. 8)

I sure hope so...
Still no home computer, and not as much time at this job to "play".
I feel that my playing and designing skills are somewhat primitive, and that translates into the trouble I'm having making the adjustments to the Deluxe version.
I really like the new version, and am most impressed with the custom levels being created, and the houses, models, etc... I just don't have the resources, or the time, to get involved like I did before.
We'll see what the future holds for DiscGolfer.
For now, back to the Contest Entries :)

PS- I did think about you guys, and missed you all, during my "absence".
We do have a great family here in Wonderland!

I'm probably like everyone else - still working though all the great entries!

Appreciate your efforts as always Pat - don't envy your job of sorting this lot out though.... Will post comments sometime this week on all entries.

Great to see you still around DG 8) - are you still doing the DiscGolfing thing???

Robbie :D

Pauline set a wicked benchmark for the rest of us... taking nothing away from the other entries though.

Hi Robbie,
Yes, I still play Disc Golf. :)
I don't get a chance to play in many tournaments. :x
I'm still going through the same legal nightmares that I was a year ago. I've won a couple major battles, but the war goes on...
No money, no home computer, no internet.
I do have a new teaching job, am healthy, and my seven-year old boy is thriving.
Disc Golf is still a passion. I have a goal of winning the 2007 Pro World Championship in the Grand Master division (50 and over).
When Discgolfer sets a goal.... look out!

Everyone still going through them?

My thoughts on the comp entries in a nutshell (or case...) by groups - bit more than Paulines 3

Words
I'm not real big on reading - much prefer a comic book to a novel... some people never quite grow up
Entries A,E & L were all great - a lot of thought went into them - toss up between E & L with A a whisker behind...

Images
Entries C, H & I. Loved the kids work! Great too to see responsible parents introducing their kids early to Wonderland  One of the picks of the comp for me was C (Winter Wonderland Singers) - beautiful pic with the characters seemlessly placed.

Other
Entries J,K,N. Loved these. The clock looked great. I'm a big fan of sculpture & I'm hazarding a guess these were the work of the talented Mr (little JG) Ripley. Hats off to the puzzle program. Obviously a lot went into this game based on Wonderland scenes.

Levels
Entries B,F,G,M,O,P. Wow... These were all excellent levels. Even managed to complete a couple of them - F,M, 2/3s of O. Very satisfying. B was mindbending & very clever - just not enough time to get through it. F - well laid out & thought through - enjoyable. G was just too big for the little time I have - well done for all the effort. M was a fun level - few twists at the end I didn't take into account - took a number of goes to get through. O - a great collection from one of our great talents  Good story, layout, very enjoyable. P - what I'd expect from this lass. Good use of the Alice in Wonderland story - inspired White Rabbit scenes - loved the Cheshire Cat - I was plaugued however by the dreaded Wonderland screen of death & never managed to complete it which was disappointing. Pick of the comp for me.

No dud submissions at all. Like I said - don't envy Pat's job in picking - might have to take the safe path & use the votes...

... everyone voted or planning to???

Yes, I voted yesterday.

I had a really hard job choosing. I categorised them into Levels, Artistic (Poems and Pictures) and Other, and picked one from each.

It was the Artistc choice that was so hard, as they were all so very good.

I am sorry that you couldn't finish mine Robbie. I hope at least one person managed it. That's the trouble with models, they can cause everything to slow up considerably, and I certainly went to town with them.

Well done everyone. :D

Wow, all the entries were Wonderful!

Mt thoughts:

Poems...were all cute. I enjoyed seeing creator/player names mentioned in Night Before...

Images...great job on the drawings boys, and I loved the Wonderland Singers.

Other....I am partial to the clock and the squash ( ) Really liked the Adventure Album/Puzzle, altho Stinky was mis-identified as Loof many times.

Levels...Oh My!

B...Special Agent was great, took me forever to get by the boxes/zbot.
D...Robbie, this is amazing. I promise I will learn how to use it! Great idea, great implementation.
F....Ice World....Yikes/Spikes! Great level.
G...mette, great series....I only got 21
M...Nice Houses, good puzzle...fun!
O...Majic? Really enjoyed these 3, good use of models, great puzzles.
P...popo! Wonderful, magical. Loved the Models (especially the giant items!) Great idea. Loved it all (except for Peegues part which had me banging my head for a long time!!!! )

Thanks and Congrats to all who entered and a big Thanks to Mightnight Synergy!
