Post by rikkebp » Fri Oct 16, 2009 12:49 pm

when i try to download new levels, my pc doesn't recognise the file format. so i tried the LV6 help desk, and it says that my computer may be damaged if i try and run the repair files - what do I do???

Put LV6 files in the "CustomLevels" directory. Then open the game, and on the level choice menu, choose "Custom Levels".
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

Use "Save file" not "Open file".

Do NOT open it with adobe reader. Just save it, then put it in the "CustomLevels" directory and play it from inside the game.

rikkebp, did you read all this yet? http://pcpuzzle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=549

It doesn't matter at all if Windows recognizes the file-type, not even if Windows would say it's a picture or a music file. You cannot open the file the same way you're used to do with other files by just double-clicking.

The only way you can open those levels is either with the RTW game or with the RTW editor, no matter how Windows would call an "lv6" extention

It shouldn't OPEN by itself when you use "Save Target As".
Are you sure you're doing that?

If the game doesn't see the levels, it is possible that you have used the wdlgame.exe file instead of wdlgamep.exe

WDLGAME is the older version which can't read the newer levels.

Of course, if you're just using Wonderland.exe (the one with a rainbow icon) it doesn't matter because it uses the correct one anyway.

ok, now there is a file under byusers in the game itself, but for some strange reason, it's empty. what do u mean by having used the wdlgame.exe file instead of wdlgamep.exe?
sorry for being such an imbecile at tthis...

Are you sure you typed in Custom Levels not CustomLevels?

An alternative:

Create an empty level
Find it in your RTW folder
The folder the level appears is the directory where you should put your levels
and the duck went moo

i have created a new levels folder that shows both in the directory and when i open the game - but it remains empty, and when i save the the link according to the directions, it opens by itself after i have pressed save in the directory

You don't need to create a new folder. If you installed the RTW game correctly, there is already a folder: C:\Program Files\Return To Wonderland\CustomLevels
and when i save the the link according to the directions, it opens by itself after i have pressed save in the directory
I've made a description how to download the level, and to check if it happens correctly:
http://docs.google.com/View?id=dfjng2bx_140gm4qrqdg

Please try to do exactly as described, and let me know if it works the same way.
If something differennt happens, please tell me at which point (1-7) and what exactly happens.
