Of course, first off, I have to figure out how to use XML myself. That shouldn't take too long if I apply myself to it - I know that HTML and XML have a few things in common, and I used to know HTML 100% a while ago. I've forgotten a bit of it though, but I don't think it'll be too difficult in the long run.

I hope.

D-P

Code: Select all

<filepath>
  <Lyglo>graphics/character/Lyglo.xml</Lyglo>
  <Whakkas>graphics/character/Whakkas.xml</Whakkas>
  <Tilesets>graphics/levels/Tileset.xml</Tilesets>
</filepath>
Do I win? Or did I fail again?

Edit: Well, according to XML Marker I won. Onto writing proper character calling files! And then to test it myself.

Edit2:

NICE!
Remember to look at the dates that every post is made. It's been many years, and I, and others, may not be the same people we were when we made them. This is a symbol of where we came from, and should be remembered as that.

*bump*

EDIT: DISREGARD THIS I SUCK AT UPDATING

After looking at the graphics for World 1, I figured that adding more detail is definitely in order for these blocks - Specifically because there's more detail in Green Hill Zone graphics from Sonic 1.

I'm going to work on adding detail to the World 1 graphics for the next release, and hopefully World 1 will actually have a background by then.

EDIT: Wow, over 3000 views. I honestly didn't think this game would be that popular. Thanks for all the support, guys!

I think I can get a release for sometime in the next few days... I mean it this time.

*barfs*

You edited something with a hacking tool while saving it and it loaded a garbled tileset address.

I tried drawing in the Lyglo World 1 tileset and then compressing the ROM to make it load the graphics, and the game buggered out big-time.

Okay, maybe it's not entirely unrelated, but still.

Alright, I've gotten a one world long demo of the game with its new graphics done. You can't get to them normally, but a sample Isometric system is in there, along with World 1-2 in the old engine.

The editor is still there but I haven't worked on it since last build. I don't know what's going to happen with it in the end.

Also, one of my friends thought it would be funny to try to leak a tech demo of some concepts for Worlds 2 and onward. It was on my mediafire account for only two hours, but still. According to the stats I get there, there weren't any downloads, but I'll have to come up with an alternative to avoid this in the future...

Bump/TP

No comments on it? Guys, I need feedback.

In other news my friend tried leaking another Lyglo demo... TWICE.

I'm trying to find a way to prevent this, so I'll update once I figure out what to do.

Also as soon as I have some feedback on the new level art. :|

I might be able to if I delete some programs I never even used, though...

You don't even need to install it, just download and run the program... Does it give you an error message or does it just not run? :?

EDIT: Reply #200! Thanks for the support guys. :D

Well, a bit of BOTH.

It will say:

"WARNING: VIRTUAL MINIMUM MEMORY TOO LOW"

Something like that. But I don't usually have anything else running at the time, so I think my databanks are almost overflowing...

I've never heard of that error before, but browsed it on Google and got this from Yahoo Answers:
Yahoo wrote: 1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2.Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
4.Under Virtual memory, click Change.
5.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. In most computers its C:
6.Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box. You can enter the amount of memory you would like to reserve for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
7.Click Set

Well, that being said, I have absolutely NO idea what I'm supposed to do with step 5.

Select your Local Disk drive - By default, on most computers it's C:

That tutorial doesn't even work on Vista, wow.

Okay... I think that what it's telling you to do is that under the "Paging" category, next to where it refers to the drive's memory size, click the box that says custom...

EDIT: Okay, I think I get it. Under the Advanced tab, there should be a category called Virtual Memory. The button there (Change...) will open a window called Virtual Memory (NO WAY). If the tickbox at the top is checked, uncheck it then select your Local Disk drive. Click the circle beside Custom Size and enter the Inital and Maximum sizes (in bytes).

This is on Vista, so I don't know if it applies to XP or not.

Ok...I'll go try it now...
