I don't see what is wrong with the new engine...
it's an upgrade from the previous one because there are 4 directions of gravity!
Yes, I know Demo 3 of SG was a more complete thing compared to this because it's got less stuff in it at the moment, but I was restarting the project either way.
EDIT: 6 pages. :P

No, I think the 4 gravity is just too evil to me, Just release what you had before and let the public decide which they like better.

I didn't have anything before, though.
I had Demo 3 and then it went wrong and didn't do anything until I found GraviCrate and built the new one off that.

and what do you mean by it's "too evil?"

EDIT: Here's a stupid video about planet hopping.

Personally, I love it. So many puzzle designs are possible now that weren't before, and... well... it looks cool.

I've now got a 1 level demo of 4 grav Spacegame! Yay.
It's not got any other stuff other than the gravity switchers and a block that makes you die when you touch it, but it still makes for an interesting level because I just lied. There's also another element in the game which is a gate where you can only pass through it if you are at a certain direction of gravity.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and don't be fooled by the look. I haven't moved to "Garden like area which has magical gravity powers for no reason.", it's still in space, just without the doom and gloom look that will be in other levels. :P

Download site that is extremely likely to work much longer than the two posted above due to not being a sharing site <-- That's a link...

P.S. How's this for a space background? Not only it looks realistic, it's also REAL, and I even bothered trying to get Antares in the picture because of its awesomeness. I saw Antares in real life, while I was in the Negev, watching the Perseids meteor shower. It was a cool experience :P

As for the game, it's amazing, to say the least. If you decide to keep the speedy levels, then I have some new music for them.

It's got all the things shown in the video above (but in a different level design) and there's also something near the end...

Maybe the checkpoint should be earlier, though.

NEW BACKGROUND SUGGESTION ALERT! NEW BACKGROUND SUGGESTION ALERT!

It turns out Betelgeuse looks more awesome than Antares, so I took a new picture.

Image

I caught Procyon, Mars, Sirius, Betelgeuse, and Orion's belt in the picture.

I don't know actually.
I'm mostly out of inspiration to make the game and one day I decided to say "Meh, kill it." and then I decided I wouldn't be working on Spacegame anymore.
That being said, I sometimes get some ideas or inspiration for the game.
Recently, I've decided I'll just take out the gravity thing and everything will be easier to make, but then again, this is Spacegame... and it isn't that much easier anyway.

At the moment I really don't know what I'm doing with it, or if I even feel like doing it. Don't get your hopes up because I am more likely to not finish the game than finish the game.

I make long posts. :|

Yay. An update.

Good news: This week I am not at school... so I'm trying to get Spacegame going again.

Bad news: It's not going to be Spacegame anymore. :| The gravity concept is hard to deal with, and since I have so little ideas for how to really use it (most of my ideas just don't need the 4-grav element), I don't think it's worth it. So it's just gonna be a normal platformer with Murly.
Allo is here too, but not as a playable character, since I also think it's not worth the hassle it takes to implement him and stuff...
EDIT: One other problem I had is that I would have to make 4 different objects for the same actual thing to suit each gravity, and I would have to make each object work with each gravity. (For example, with the cannon in this demo. I would have to make 4 objects so it works in all directions, but also program what would happen if the "wrong" gravity character hit that object.)

Anyway, I have another 1 level demo of how the non-spacegame spacegame looks like now. It has a few cool stuff, like cannons and meteor thingies. And stuff. So you might like it. Or not.

Ask me if you need another mirror.

You could add variables that check which direction the object's gravity is so it does blah blah blah so you won't need to make 4 of every object.

Yes, but what factor would change the variable? And I would still have to implement all the complicated actual interactions either way.

If I know what you mean, maybe you could have invisible triggers change the variable as it changes gravity. In a Step event you could have it check what the variable is and if the variable is <BLAH> then the gravity is <BLAH>.

That's just as hard as puttng 4 objects of the same thing is, though.

There is no point bothering to use the 4-grav system until I actually have any ideas to use it really well and have cool objects that can only work exclusively to the 4-grav system. Otherwise it's almost pointless IMO.

Great, although some of the graphics clash because some of them are pixel arty and some are more gradienty and 3Dy...
