Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - The Thread

Yes, you read that right. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode One.

The other topic kinda died out before any substantial information was obtained, but now... There's a lot of information. I stayed up until midnight for some of it

Anyways! Onto the spoils:

- Sonic 4 will be on all three major consoles as a downloadable title. PSN, XBLA, and WiiWare users will be able to buy it. Other platforms include iPhone, thanks to a mishap of Sega's accidentally revealing info prior to it being made public (again).

- EDIT: Release date is some time in July 2010. Get comfortable.

- On January 21st, Sega registered the domain name "sonicthehedgehog4.com", along with 1 through 10, except for 2 (already taken). It now redirects to the official page about Sonic 4.

(I can't be bothered to go to GameSpot and get the full-sized image, it's like everyone on the internet is checking GameSpot, Sega's blog, and Sonic Retro all at once)

That's all I can really write at the moment, having three internet applications open at once and using all of them is pretty dumb.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4?! I am buying this, no doubt about it.

IF I COULD FIND A WAY TO HACK IT, THAT WOULD BE BETTER. I spend a good amount of time hacking the old Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog games.

(I made a hack that's intended to be crappy and stupid, if anyone wants it.)

EPISODE ONE just sounds silly. Still, this seems to be good news so far.

1 is also taken and leads to a website I really, really don't trust. There are popup windows everywhere, and the main Flash banner is impossible to close in FF.

You sure? I can type in "sonicthehedgehog1.com" on my browser and press enter, and it loads Sonic 4's page just fine.

Since this is going to be on a console other than PC, I don't think it would actually be possible to hack now. They should at least have Debug Mode still, though.

I just checked this. Turns out that sonicthehedgehog1.com and www.sonicthehedgehog1.com lead to different sites. With "www" it redirects to Sonic 4. Without www it currently leads to a website that simply says "It works!" in big bold letters. The one I don't trust was either a mistypo on my part or REPLACED entirely with "it works".

Actually, that was a silhouette of the Sonic 1 title-screen emblem. However, it doesn't mean anything - the trailer was made by a company who had no information about the game (lol Sega)

I hope the episodes don't cost too much. I don't like downloading games in episodes that much.

I hope you're being ironic by posting this. This is from a romhack "Mr. Needlemouse" which was created well before any news of Project Needlemouse have surfaced.
For others: don't believe it, the video uploader is either mistaken or a prankster.

There's also a video of Sonic Megamix being passed off as Sonic 4.

While I think it's certainly above standards of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, it's still obviously not supposed to be Sonic 4.

I also got a bigger picture of the first level, but it's huge. Green Hill Zone Act 54 is beautiful in HD.

List of Badniks now, and while I can't say it was unexpected, I kinda expected something a bit more... substantial, I dunno.

So the website got a ton of revamps - it's now designed after Splash Hill Zone, the game's first level. Said Zone's music is also on the site.

Plus, A LOT OF SCREENSHOTS.

Also, one last thing that's rather old - A french gaming site called "Succes Full" reportedly got 12 of the Achievements for the game, and among what's been confirmed...

Super Sonic in levels. I hope to God this is true, I've been waiting for Sega to do this for all of my life.
