Where do YOU save your custom levels ?
I'm not sure what to do for the best so wondered what everyone else did...
When I bought RTW Deluxe, there were quite a few custom levels as part of the package in "By user" files - but not all. So, where do I put new ones I've downloaded from the forum ?
I started putting them in dates I downloaded them but they're all mixed up then, I tried remembering who made them and putting them in a user file and got mixed up with that too.
Then ... I deleted LOADS and replaced them from Mette's website as they were all nice and tidy (thanks Mette) but the one's I'd put into date files had either vanished or had turned up somewhere else (are you keeping up guys?) So ... it gets worse .. I retrieved everything from the recycle bin and now it's a monumental NIGHTMARE...
I'm ok with downloading and saving - it's just which file to put levels in that I'm struggling with.
Any thoughts ? RSVP

Its purely personal preference.
I believe I started out nice and tidy too....oh so long ago. But if you put the levels in separate files, within the Custom Levels folder.......then you can't peek at them in the editor
unless you drag them back out.
I too took mettes downloads, but at present I haven't PUT them anywhere. So I am in a big mess too.

It's completely up to personal preference Kazza. I just have numbered folders with about 50 or 60 levels in each, all mixed up.
If you have folders with makers names on, then it makes sense to download them to those folders. When you find a level from a new maker you would have to make a new folder to put it in.
If you keep all the levels like I do, then you will need a lot of hard disk space to accomodate them all. Then, of course, there are the models and houses. You'll soon find it is growing to enormous proportions, and completely taking over your computer.

I agree, it's however you prefer to keep them organized.
Myself --- I have a difficult time with the word "organized", don't fully
understand the concept. Or, at least I don't practice it.
But I do have several folders I keep the older levels in, at least the few
that I've managed to complete.
The "current" ones I'm still working on, however, I do keep in the
CustomLevels folder, just because the fewer there are in there, the
quicker they load (sort) when bringing up custom levels.
I have to disagree with Popo's comment about the levels taking up a lot
of disk space though (nothing personal, Popo). It's all relative. One of the great things about
Wonderland levels is how SMALL the level files really are! I think that's
owed to the genius of design on the part of Midnight Synergy. The actual
levels are tiny in size, it takes quite a few to gobble up too much disk
space. Granted, the .zip files (e.g. Mette's) are rather large, but there's
a LOT of levels included. And (again, nothing personal) the custom
content (models in particular) do tend to take up more disk space than
just the levels alone.
I'd suggest finding whatever is easiest for you to keep track, and go with it.
Just my opinions.

Hi Kazza,
I have all the levels organazid like this:
In the CustomLevels folder I have a Forum folder with a Classic folder and a Deluxe folder. In each of these two (eg the Classic and the Deluxe folder) I have folders with the creators names. So when I for instance download one of your levels it goes in the KAZ67 folder in the Deluxe folder in the Forum folder in the CustomLevels folder (do you follow?
).
It is true that I can't look at other people's levels in the editor without moving them, but I never want to anyway (by principle).
I'm sooooooo far behind in playing the levels
, so I think it's nice to allways now who made which levels. In this way I can ask for hints and give comments in a PM if I have something to say about any level I have played, even if it's very old.
I hope this can give you some organizational inspiration....
Thanks for using my website
Mette

I got into the habit of watching Emmerdale with my mother-in-law, don't know why I still watch it because it stinks.
Corrie is a different kettle of fish, I've watched that from the very beginning.
I don't watch Eastenders, can't really understand what their saying.
What does an interlecktewal like you watch?

Thanks to Kymmie.

I like Horizon, quiz programs, them Time Team thingies where they dig people up.
Stargate (last one tomorrow
), Atlantis.
Programs that show operations, and all the gory bits.
Some comedy programs, but there aren't many that are really funny anymore. Used to love Father Ted and Rab C Nesbitt.
Don't watch any soaps at all, but if I was forced to watch one it would be Corrie. I think because it's closer to home than the others, and I can relate to it. I did used to watch Soap though.

I used to love 'Soap', it was totally barmy.
I enjoy a good documentary, love all the gory stuff too.
I would have loved working with Quincy.
Rab C????? Did you understand what he said? I had to interpret for John.
Govan isn't a fictitious place, I was brought up in that wee town along with you know who.
