For all of the wonderland women

Post by lgrapes » Fri Feb 25, 2005 1:11 am

I just received this from a great lady! My elderly Aunty :D I thought it might make some people smile. It made me smile:D

GREAT QUOTES BY GREAT LADIES (I have modified a few of these due to certain words)

Inside every older lady is a younger lady -- wondering what the heck happened. -Cora Harvey Armstrong-

Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies.

The hardest years in life are those between ten and seventy. -Helen Hayes (at 73)-

I refuse to think of them as chin hairs. I think of them as stray eyebrows.
-Janette Barber-

Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse. -Lily Tomlin-

A male gynecologist is like an auto mechanic who never owned a car. Carrie Snow-

Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry with your girlfriends. -Laurie Kuslansky-

My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint. -Erma Bombeck-

Old age ain't no place for sissies. -Bette Davis-

A man's got to do what a man's got to do. A woman must do what he can't. -Rhonda Hansome-

The phrase "working mother"! is redundant. -Jane Sellman-

Every time I close the door on reality, it comes in through the windows.
-Jennifer Unlimited-

Whatever women must do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult. -Charlotte Whitton-

Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart. -Caryn Leschen- (my personal fav)

I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once. -Jennifer Unlimited-

If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning. -Catherine-

When I was young, I was put in a school for slow kids for two years before they realized I actually had a hearing loss. And they called ME slow! -Kathy Buckley-

I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb -- and I'm also not blonde. -Dolly Parton-

If high heels were so wonderful, men would still be wearing them. -Sue Grafton-

I'm not going to vacuum 'til Sears makes one you can ride on. -Roseanne Barr-

When women are depressed they either eat or go shopping. Men invade another country.. -Elayne Boosler-

Behind every successful man is a surprised woman. -Maryon Pearson-

In politics, if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman. -Margaret Thatcher-

I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine marriage and a career. - Gloria Steinem-

I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house. -Zsa Gabor-

Two wrongs make me write. -Robin Garrett-

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission. -Eleanor Roosevelt-

Actually my Aunty is a retired nurse turned author of poetry. Her books are available on Amazon.com.

Although, I wouldn't mind having a Mummy on the thread...any takers?

No problem M.A.D. A couple of friends and I have decided that we are all going in on a house together near some water and we will all take care of each other. You know the usual spa treatments everyday, gourmet meals, pampering, your every desire. We were thinking somewhere like Figi or Capri.

I think we have been getting the cold from you! You know all about lake effect snow and cold don't you? I'm with you...I don't mind chilly weather but this is ridiculous! It is down right frigid outside. The temperature reads 26 but coupled with the wind chill it feels like 9 degrees. BRRRRRRRR!!!

Oh, the plan:

1. The lottery will supply the cash
2. I believe everyone should bring their favorite piece of furniture, to mix it up a bit
3. The men will supply the food...remember they will be feeding us so it should be their job to worry about the food
4. The men will be cleaning also, so they can figure the rest out

I hope this clears up any questions that you may have had

Favourite piece of furniture??????

There's only one............................

The desk that holds my computer! HAHAHA

We must make it two pieces of furniture, the chair to sit at the computer. 8)

Oh, I forgot to mention...As a welcome gift everyone gets their very own computer, custom built to their liking. So, a desk is not necessary. Each computer will have a desk and chair included...or lounge...or bed...or what ever you want.

My piece of furniture is going to be the dining table, but I don't think it will be big enough for all of us...

I have so many favourites Lori, I wouldn't know what to pick.

No point in picking the cooker if the men are doing all the cooking, in saying that, it's one of my hobbies and I wouldn't like to give it up ad infinitum.

I bought this marvelous Victoriana double cooker, it has two ovens, one fan assisted, the other conventional. Oval shaped warming plate and a non stick griddle. I absolutely adore cooking on it.
What a sad person I am!

Self-proclaimed chef here  I know how you feel...redid the kitchen with all new stainless steel appliances...love my oven/stove. I woke up this morning at 4! So, I made some banana nut muffins.

Being my "Mummy" I can't tell you what you can and can't do...so, bring your stove if you would like!!! If you don't want anyone to touch it we will have to bring a big robust man along to guard it for you

Don't you remember our strange similarities M.A.D.? Maybe we are sharing the same kitchen...hmmm. I mean with the time difference, it is possible that when I sleep you are awake and when you sleep I am awake. There was something strange about my desk chair and keyboard this morning. Were you playing on my computer!
