Hard to explain, he was "cosplaying" for a word he was about to say and "changed his mind." :P

If he/she changed his/her mind then why didn't he/she delete the word he/she was going to say?

I simply don't understand what "AAAAAAAAAAAAAH BAH BLACK SHEEP!" has got to do with the topic.

Not everyone understands the joke, (I didn't,) so most people will just think it is inappropriate randomness.

Also, if the joke is not linked to anything on the topic, then that is bad.
If the joke is linked to the topic, then that is OK.

It's a joke.

Let it be.

Don't pretend you're a moderator.

But you're not a mod, so you shouldn't be saying it.

But acting like a moderator is good, because if I didn't MS would have to. And the less time wasted for MS the better.

It's not really helping that much, tho. And you can't get worked up about every single thing that seems to be a bit out of order all the time.

Yeah, no. Pointing out spam posts is one thing, but moderating when you don't have permission to is another topic entirely. If everyone was acting like a moderator when they aren't, the forum would be even worse off than it is now.

This is exactly what it is. Backseat moderating is highly frowned upon for most forums because it can be insulting towards other users relatively easily.

Acting like a moderator when you aren't one - Backseat Moderating - often gives people a bad impression of you/the forum itself. For example, your backseat modding of Nobody's post sends me the impression that you don't like jokes. I know it's not true, but that's what it makes me think. For someone who's not a member, it could be sending them the message that we don't accept tomfoolery at all, when there's an abundance of it in the Off-Topic section.

How is it not helping? It is helping, stopping spam is helping.

Explain how everyone not spamming would be bad. Unless they were moderating not to the rules. Unlike me.

I am not really moderating, I am telling people how they are spamming and telling them not to do that.

Read my latest post again.

Also, don't twist my words. I never said everyone not spamming was a bad thing. I'm saying that if everyone started backseat moderating, things would get worse, which they would.

Stopping spam does help. However, backseat moderation does not. Nobody's post isn't spam, he was making a joke. The reason backseat moderation can destroy things is because arguments far beyond the magnitude of this one are guaranteed to show up. There's no argument, they will.

Telling people to stop spamming when it's only a joke is backseat moderating. Pointing out that a post is spam or pointless falls under this category as well because almost all of us are competent enough to tell if it has any worth or not.

If you're a moderator, you do this stuff because it's expected of you. You're allowed to moderate the forum. Doing so when you're not allowed to can, and will send people a bad impression of the forum's members, and for this forum, that violates the rules. You could very easily insult or hurt someone's feelings by saying their post is spam and not to do it if you aren't a moderator.

I wasn't trying to twist your words, I can't be bothered to bother to find out what that was about.
Qloof234 wrote: Pointing out that a post is spam or pointless falls under this category as well because almost all of us are competent enough to tell if it has any worth or not.
But the people that "spammed" don't know that, and if they don't, they will think it is OK, and continue spamming.

Well, it is spam making jokes that have nothing to do with the topic.

Everyone always disagrees with me and I have always lost every single argument, so I am not going to bother arguing, Qloof and the others, you all won the argument.

I wasn't trying to moderate the forum, I was just trying to stop people from spamming, and more: helping the forum, instead of "Thanks..." I get: "What your doing is highly frowned upon, you've made things worse and you have given a bad impression of the forum, it is also violating the rules, you can easily hurt someones feelings.", then from trying to help I end up crying like I just did then.

I'm not trying to make you feel bad. I'm just saying that even though you're trying to do something good, it might send some people the wrong impression.

How about a "blaster" powerup that makes you shoot mini rays?
Or maybe a pesky bird that randomly drops bombs that explodes with an area of 2 squares?
Maybe even a catapult that shoots rocks 5 squares from itself?

More ideas:
A fire catapult that is exactly the same, except instead of rocks, it shoots bombs all with an area of 2 squares.
A super catapult that shoots pesky birds (slowly).
A death catapult that shoots rocks rapidly at random spots.
A double catapult that shoots rocks backwards and forwards at the same time.
A quad catapult that shoots in 4 directions.
A multi catapult that shoots in 8.
A pushable catapult (You can push it)
An explodo catapult that shoots a rock, then blows up.
A teleporting catapult that shoots a rock, then appears somewhere else.
A steel catapult that is indestructable (You cant even shoot it with the blaster powerup)
Lastly, an electric catapult that shoots electricity and creates a random enemy at that spot.

If I think of more, Ill post it.

Wonderland Adventures: Animator's Kit

[09:06:19] 'a'a [Blast!10] says: my idea is Wonderland Adventures: Animator's Kit
[09:06:29] Qloof234 says: ???
[09:07:57] 'a'a says: You don't have a player character, and in the game you can press keys assigned to "action" and "cut" (Q and Ctrl+Q maybe)
[09:08:25] Qloof234 says: So basically something to record WA Machinima?
[09:08:51] 'a'a says: you could change your view freely around using the mouse like in MC, and use the arrow keys to move around in the level and some other two keys to move up and down
[09:08:57] 'a'a says: I dunno. what's machinima?
[09:09:31] Qloof234 says: machinima = youtube video/movie recorded from a game
[09:09:48] 'a'a says: I guess
[09:09:55] Qloof234 says: win
[09:10:22] 'a'a says: but you won't control a player. There will be certain commands executed when the user presses Q, and these can be assigned in the editor
[09:10:49] Qloof234 says: awesome

The editor 3D, master and dialog windows will still be used. Dialogs will be changed - no selectable answers, and each interchange will be one person saying something. The user will press a button (Z? X?) to perform the FNC and CMD for that interchange. The AskAbouts will be removed as well.

The master view will look like this:

Code: Select all

Well, in RTW, it only lasts for the rest of the level if the button is square. If it is a timer button, then only for an amount of time. And with a circular button, it is only slow when something is pressing it.
