Halloween 2010
I have also a question to you BB: Sometimes if you quote someone else who wrote a sentence with a smiley / emoticon, you quote only the sentence, but not the smiley. What's the point of that? Do you perhaps believe that a sentence without smiley means exactly the same as the same sentence with smiley?

Warning us? Maybe you're just-WAIT...eee226 wrote:No I'm not I'm just warning you.
I'm sensing something evil in the air. It's watching you browse the forums. It's angry. It doesn't want you on the forums. It hates kids on forums. If you don't leave, it will eat you in one quick gulp!
QUICK, SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER AND HIDE IN YOUR ROOM FOR A FEW DAYS OR IT WILL FIND YOU! NEVER RETURN TO THIS FORUM AGAIN!
I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE ONCE ON A DIFFERENT WEBSITE, AND I GOT A HUGE SCAR FROM IT!
HURRY!!!

Off-topic:
If you must know, (and I'm not joking (no really, I'm not),) it's because the smiley would be lonely inside the quote.Marinus wrote:I have also a question to you BB: Sometimes if you quote someone else who wrote a sentence with a smiley / emoticon, you quote only the sentence, but not the smiley. If it will help us to understand you better, help you to understand us better, or in general, help people on this forum to understand each other better, then I'm convinced that it does matter. But I agree, if it's only about that one situation I was talking about, it doesn't perhaps matter much. However, since seemingly more people think the same way about it, perhaps it does matter though.
I don't understand what you mean with a sentence is (or is not) alive. How can that be, and when is a sentence alive, and when it's not alive?

Off topic:
Also, does this matter this much that this topic goes off-topic even when the main reason this topic exists is still being talked about?
A smile looks alive, a sentence doesn't. And, the reason is much, much more complex.Marinus wrote:If it will help us to understand you better, help you to understand us better, or in general, help people on this forum to understand each other better, then I'm convinced that it does matter. Doesn't make sense to me, and it still doesn't answer my question if the sentence means exactly the same with or without smiley, and why the smiley would be alone, even together with the sentence.BB wrote:A smile looks alive, a sentence doesn't.
Good answer! And, the reason is much, much more complex.

Since you are mostly the one who has big problems with talking off-topic, and you didn't continue this discussion in a different topic, you could ask yourself that same question even more, then asking it me, especially since you started this off-topic talking. Also, does this matter this much that this topic goes off-topic even when the main reason this topic exists is still being talked about?
