New Game - Doom Adventure [DEMO 2]

Post by Technos72 » Mon Dec 20, 2010 2:52 am

DOOM ADVENTURE DEMO 2 FINALLY!

List of changes
- Reprogrammed magnet so that things get dragged to it when held
- Created the full kingdom difficulty (expert mode)
- Fixed a bug where you don't die from a dragon the second time after killed by it.
- Created menu
- Resolution set to widescreen, but both screen resolutions will be available for full version.

I realized that when you complete the game you will be sent to a room with a yellow rectangle. So when you see this, close the game. And I'm not sure if the programmig is correct since I haven't touched this for almost two months. So notify me if anything goes wrong.

My next destination is finishing the whole game. This is going to include...

- random mode, full kingdom with items and dragons except chalice in random places. Process may be short.
- The Adventure Plus world and its three difficulties.
- Any bugs you find I will try to fix them.

Have fun
I'm taking a break on WA: The Magical Tests and working on what may be my very first 3D game maker game. It's a first person clone of the old atari game "Adventure". I called it Doom Adventure because it will look like that FPS game Doom. I'll be using the FPS GM tutorial engine to make this.

It's unlikely I'll be finished by Charasmist (or whatever you spell it). Better get working!

A 3D game, huh? Sounds interesting!

I personally find 3D Game Maker games hard to work with, though. I feel much more adaptive in 2D.

Anyone here in this forum manage to make a 3d game? If not, I'll be known as the one who made the first 3d game here.

Anyway I'm planning to include the following

- novice and expert mode from the original game
- my voice with my mic
- no bats
- no bridge item. Instead use a hammer to break vunerable walls in the blue maze and in the white castle.

I'll post a screenshot tomorrow. I'll put up Demo 1 after making Novice mode.

Blast!10 managed to make some 3D stuff I think...

And if you just worked off of an already-programmed engine, I don't think it should be counted as totally "yours".

Kooky: You're right. I'll say in the game's credits "engine used - GM FPS tutorial"

Guppy Star: Game Maker Pro (NOT lite) has this feature which you can make 3d games. I'm using that to make this game. You have to buy it to use it. GM Lite is free.

Right now I finished the area around the gold castle and blue maze. I'm going to work on the blue maze next. What I've done so far

- green dragon programmed to attack you
- item sprites
--- gold key
--- black key
--- sword
- outside gold castle
- movements. strafe isn't working well. I should try to fix that.

Here's two screenshots of the game so far.

Ok I've just finished the blue maze. To finish the wall layouts, I just need to make the black castle, its two rooms inside, and inside the gold castle. Then I'll make the item functions and other stuff to finish novice mode and Demo 1.

dp

Here's what I've done so far

- All maps done
- bigger dragons. I thought they were too small
- area transitions (like how they did in RPGs)
- twice as much frames per second. So it'll move really smoothly
- items that can be picked up and will stay gone in that area when moving through rooms.
- different floor (for a maze reason)

Things left to do for Demo 1
- Music
- Sounds
- Programming to pick up items only one, to show the item picked up, and to use.
- castle doors

and another screenshot. This is the blue maze and up in the distance is the black castle.

TP (where are all the posts?)

Now I just need to program all items correctly. I'm already done the yellow key and sword programming. Then after doing that I'll add the sounds and music which won't take a long time. My goal is to finish Demo 1 in 10 hours. And that's when I go to bed. After that is chrasmist time for me.

You can make good ones with it but it's tricky.

However, all coligons are still in 2-D.

If you haven't noticed, I've sent a PM with the map.

Anyway I'll show what places I'm done, not done, and currently working on.

- cave
- white castle outskirts
- white castle
- black castle maze

Also you should make the black castle actually black. That would rule.

it'll be black in the black castle maze. In the normal Adventure the cave and black castle in expert are dark. So yeah.
