A few weeks ago my computer started to stop responding when I put a cd or a dvd in. I don't really know what happened. Please help me!

Try holding the Shift key when you insert a disc. It stops Windows from automatically reading and running stuff inside the disc.

That technique works. But how do I get to the CD files? When I go to the cd drive on Windows Explorer it just stops responding. Is there another way around this?

Sounds like you might have a problem with your CD drivers. I don't know much about this kind of thing, but I would google your problem and see if someone else has it, and/or download new drivers.
