New level: Waterlogged

Post by yot yot5 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 3:43 pm

Stinky and Loof are on a hike, when it starts to rain!!!
And next thing they know, half the windy hills are submerged and all other stinkers are fleeing somewhere high. Can you help the duo of hill-hikers back home?

UPDATE: I was annoyed that there were so many hidden items in this level, so I removed to wall in the kaboom room and replaced one of the houses with a pine tree. Tell me what you think!

Don't look at this level in the editor because there are some "hidden" items...

Sorry, but I don't believe that this level is doable even after looking at the editor.

Really? With that bonus coin as well? It seems possible to beat the level, but not to take that bonus coin...

No, you can take the bonus coin too. I'll go get a pic.

UPDATE: here's the pic. The bonus star didn't show up very well but you can see it on the far right.

I don't find a difficulty with the bonus coin, but I can't see how to cover both buttons that are needed to exit (white and cyan) - unless there's some glitch that I am not aware of.

Check the editor again Amnon. With a bit of searching you should be able to solve it without much trouble (in fact, you would have to be pretty mad to solve this without the editors help. One of the items is hidden very well).

I found out how to get the bonus coin, but I too am having problems with covering both buttons. There must be something that I'm not seeing yet...

Well here is the list of hidden items that I found, anything still missing? Boulder generator, barrel, bonus coin, passage around house, teleporter pair, and a boulder in the middle of the kaboom cage. The chomper of course...

You got 'em all. Are you having trouble destroying the boulder in the wall?

No, no problem there at all. The problem, as I said, is later, in covering both the white and the cyan buttons.

Ok I give in, here's a rough walkthrough:
1: Release the kabooms one by one and destroy the boulders. The generater makes a bridge for you.
2: When the bridge to the main island is complete, open the blue gate and get Loof behind it. Close the blue gate. When the next boulder stops, use Loof to push it back down and destroy the barrel by the bonus coin.
3: Keep the blue gate open for the next boulder. Use Loof to push it left and onto the cyan button.
4: Get the chomper out of the fake wall (use the wood box to keep Loof safe), and onto the flame.
5: Push the wood box onto the white button and exit via black teleporter.
Simple huh?

Yes - it was step 1 that I was doing differently. The rest was well rehearsed 1000 times over.

Step 1 is indeed a glitch that I didn't think of!

Thanks!

And I was wasting the first box. Now it seems so simple...
Thanks!

I've made my 50th level! It's the same as waterlogged, but now you can see some items that were hidden before. The boulder in the kaboom room isn't even in a wall (making even more misdirection)!

Wow, that was quite challenging; I needed to read the walkhtrough, and it took several restarts to do step 1.

I also had tried sometghing different: Having the chomper and one kaboom in the room with the lightblue button, but that didn't work. Apparantly a kaboom walks too fast to keep the gate open long enough.

Thanks for the fun! :)

That's one of the first things I tried, but of course if the kaboom was slower, then I could let it off around the main area, so both Stinkers could walk freely and help each other between the gates on the top. In fact, the kaboom could then also help with the exit gates!

Hi Amnon.

if the kaboom was slower, then I could let it off around the main area, so both Stinkers could walk freely and help each other between the gates on the top.
You mean the kaboom could have activated the blue and green button also? Perhaps, but I think it's easier to let Stinky or Loof do that.

In fact, the kaboom could then also help with the exit gates!
I guess you mean with "exit gates": one of the two gates below the exit. Indeed, that was what I was trying.

But then Stinky and Loof could coordinate and make more complex maneuvers in the top area.

True, but I don't see any complex manoeuvres needed here. Only to push a box through a gate, and if a kaboom not even opens a gate long enough to let a stinker trough, it will be never long enough for a stinker and a box.
