Wonderland Tv show

Post by Koopson44 » Sat Mar 15, 2014 4:59 am

When i was 5 or something me and my dad would work together on solving levels in the original wonderland. No this wasnt too long ago, seeing as im 13 but, Me and my dad love wonderland still to this day. Then one day i said to my dad "Why isn't there a Wonderland Tv show?" My dad thought about it for a while ( 10 seconds) then said " i dont know Jackson."

Now can someone answer this question.

WHY ISN'T THERE A WONDERLAND TV SHOW?!? :stinkyconfused:

Lots of reasons I don't feel like getting into, but in short, it would be too complicated to create a TV show.

Y'know it wouldn't have to be on tv. Youtube. Twitch. The forums.
Yes. I can see it now! Members of the forum as voice actors. All of it made in the Editor maybe. And yours truly as the director. Okay maybe that's being a little too ambitious.

Yeap, maybe a little; but I have to admit, I have all ready thought, for some reason, of some kind of logbook type event where you see stinkers solve puzzles.
I wonder how they must feel, getting zapped a hundred times...

All so, I don't know if any body on the forum would make a fantastic director except for Patrick.

I have thought about doing something like this before, due to my obsession with story. It might not be very true to the original tone of Wonderland though, knowing me.

Someone was trying to do a Wonderland animation here on the forum. I was even doing the music, which was kind of synth-y, but it would fit a somewhat low-quality flash animation (with few frames) just fine.

It never worked out, unfortunately. The animation never got too far off the ground, the links to my music are all dead and the computer that I had my music on died, so I don't even have the music anymore. The only one that survived was the one I uploaded on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0pzCP0b5nI
(The upload cut off some of the high frequencies, but eh, whatever)

I don't always have much time now due to university, but if anyone is going to try again (only seriously this time) I'll be glad to get into the music-making again. It won't sound nearly as good as the WA soundtracks, unfortunately, because I epicfail at using proper orchestral libraries (they don't sound realistic in my hands, I suck at MIDI programming) but that slightly MIDI-ish sound you're hearing in the video is definitely within my reach.

Here's another, slightly dark-ish song that survived on YouTube, demonstrating that sound at its best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW1wgGZwZUA
(Yes, it was "Hope" compared to everything else I had in that music set  )

EDIT: I was wrong, there was another "wonderland animation" track I uploaded on YouTube and another track that I just did for fun is also there. Unfortunately, that's it. Four tracks are all my stupid self uploaded. :(

File Travel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=347IPQiYtAk
Your Home is Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOGsNiCfi6s (I intended it to be a peaceful Wondertown theme, then someone complained it's a bit sad. someone else said it fits just fine since Loof is abducted at this point in the script, after that I don't even remember anymore)

Young me thought it was a good idea to ask Patrick via Private Message,
Young me never got a response,
Young me was kinda stupid in comparison

I remember that animation thread a little. I downloaded "Your Home Is Here" but not the others for some reason.. Then again I only looked at the thread a few times. If you want the direct MP3 I've uploaded it for you. :)

I'd love to hear some of the "dead" songs, so it's sad that you don't have any of the others... but thanks, anyway! I downloaded the MP3 which is better than trying to download it off Youtube with further quality loss. Thank you! :D

Those are on YouTube among my links, along with "File Travel" and "Your Home is Here". Though I agree, MP3 for "Paint It Rainbow" would be nice.

Too bad that "Hope" was never part of the Wonderland animation set. It was a project I called "Dark Mirror" and (as far as I can remember) I never released any of it (except for "Hope", but that link is dead) anywhere at all. So, unless that hard drive is still recoverable, "Dark Mirror" is gone.
Koopson44 wrote:I'm not quite sure what it was about but, the entire time i couldn't stop crying happily.
Believe it or not, I intended that as an intro of a non-existent TV series inspired by "Mysterious Ways". I don't even remember when or why I released that on the forum, but I'm glad I did.

Anyway... if only I could learn how to use better sounds properly to finally get access to what sounds like a real orchestra.

If only.

In person? I don't think so.

We all "know him" over the Internet, but I don't think that amouns to much when we talk about something as high-budget as animation making. We do not have a professional animator and we have no way of hiring one.

Aside from "cheap flash animation" the only plausible way I see this happening is for someone to design an ungodly amount of ludicrously specific textures (or even models) for the WA3 editor, then use game footage. It'd be underwhelming in many ways, but it'd be possible. If someone finds a way to drastically change camera angles in WA, that'd be even better.

A much more difficult (though still probably possible) but potentially more rewarding way would be for someone to rip out all the graphical resources from the WA games and then use some 3D modelling program like Blender to put it all together. If you can find a way to import the in-game "animation cycles" (stinkers walking, ducks swimming, etc) inside Blender, this way could work. Otherwise, it'd require way too much hand-made animation to be doable in a conceivable amount of time and effort. Even if it's all possible, though, I have absolutely no idea how to do any of this.

We'd also need someone who can record WA footage without a tremendous amount of lag, so it's not going to be me because I have a very crappy video card.

Well my computer lags when I try to make a decent level in the WA editor.

Level? Oh god. Your video card seems to be even less suited for game recording, unfortunately. :(

Then again i watch videos, play dan-ball (a game website) AND read the forums at the same time. So it might be that. It doesnt lag when i try to play wonderland.
But do not ask me to make a level. It will be Awful! I'm more of a player and puzzle solver.

Everything has to start somewhere. :stinkyhappy:

The point is not to make a "normal" level. The point is that, whoever does the animation, IF he/she chooses this way of working, the computer needs to be able to record lagless footage of WA and WA editor. I'm only talking about the animation. So the entire point is specific scenery needed for specific shots. Everything that we don't see does not need to be designed.

Of course, if we can rip the resources and put them into Blender, all that becomes obsolete, but I have no idea how to do that.

Also, I realized that WA textures and models can be ported into RTW and simplistic camera pans and such can be done with Alt+X. Anything more complicated than that, though, is going to be almost impossible to pull off, so placing things into a "complete control of the camera" environment like Blender would still be better... but it's still a start.

Editor wizards, is there any way to make the camera zoom in without making the dialogue box appear in the game? That would open up quite a few possibilities.

I really can't do anything with my video card or my university-filled schedule, but planning things out (even if we won't follow through with this) is never a bad idea.

Well, pressing 0 on the numpad gives you a weird close-up of your stinker, although there's no panning like with the dialogue windows.

Not having the pan kinda sucks, but oh well.

Any way to make your stinker completely invisible?

Nope. For cutscenes without the player we'd just put them in a fake wall.
