New Level (Adv) Deus Ex Machina *

Post by Mark » Wed Dec 31, 2014 8:17 pm

De·us Ex Ma·chi·na · (noun)

:  a character or thing that suddenly enters a novel, play, movie, etc.
and solves a problem that had previously seemed impossible to solve.

Utilizing Popo's Seasonal WinterSnow, because "Baby, it's cold outside". Happy New Years! :)

Conceptually simple, but I had Loof killed many times and the clock was also running out until I had some practice.

Thanks Mark!

Yes, and I bet he was consulting that rotating hand on his Snow Dial.

I was fortunate to nail this in 2:22.  But it's really not about time. It's all about control.
For anyone who doesn't have a Death Wish, I recommend playing with 'No Time Limit'.

Hi Mark

Again it was all about teamwork, even if one team member had to meet his maker in the end...
Like Amnon I had my problems with the double pressure of time and rolling sphere, but this was Mark at his best!

Thanks again for another exciting challenge, my friend, and all the best to you in 2015!

Played the old 5-minute version, first successful exit was on 1:55. I'm not going to try and do better.

Tricky level. Took me a few tries to see what I had to do but many more to accomplish it. Loof met the sphere more times than I cared to count.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

Maybe it was too much New Years but I haven't the vaguest notion of what goes where. :?

edit: wait a minute, I just got an idea but it involves a lot of moving the shadow, I hope that's right.

double dog edit: Yep, that was the key and to those of you who did this in less than 10 minutes, congratulations. :D

Thanks for the challenge Mark.

Wow, what a feat of shadow control. Memorizing the layout is of great help here, I had to constantly "shift" around to see what I was doing!

I actually took a more dangerous approach of making two moves per cycle (it's possible) but then I often had to wait just to make sure I wouldn't kill myself on the next move... slow but steady totally wins the race here!

I also tried that too, but then I would miss the next cycle. So it would average out the same in the end.
My strategy was to keep it short since my video recording program in not registered and has a time limit.
