The Old Wonderlandl

Post by TASHA » Thu Aug 25, 2005 9:18 pm

I have been away from the forum & level playing for awhile because of the illlness & subsequent death of my mother. Once I got back on track, I downloaded & began playing all the levels I had missed during the past couple of months. With no respect intended to anyone, since I have never made a level myself, I find all the levels now very frustrating -- if not impossible -- to complete. Gone are the days when the goal was how
to solve the various prolems within each area & trying to reach the exit. Now all we seem to do is get blasted, electrocuted or smashed -- this isn't "PacMan" it's Wonderland!!
I don't know about everyone else, but I don't want to spend four hours -- or even four days -- on trying to solve a particular level. Half of the levels I don't even bother downloading because I know in advance I'll never be able to complete them. Then, upon reading the comments concerning the various levels, I feel even more "stupid" since others seem to be able to solve them. I have come to look forward to new postings by certain level makers because I know at least I have a chance to sort through the puzzle -- piece by piece -- and hopefully be able to solve the level or, have fun trying -- many thanks to OHBehave, Shorty, Lillie, Kaz, Mette, Loof 101 & Liz for at least giving me a chance!!

Please, I don't wish to offend anyone with my remarks, but I just miss the old "Wonderland" style & the old "Puzzle Solving"!!! Perhaps I"m just getting too old to play (age 61), but I used to pride myself on being able to complete most of the levels -- maybe it's time to retire & leave the playing to the younger generation. I just find this rather sad since I never felt this way before.

Hey Tasha - I've posted before asking if anyone knew where you were. Sorry to hear about your mother. I hope you are coping and not feeling too down. It is awful to lose someone so close, I know that. Time is always a good healer.

There are so many new levels lately - it is a little over-whelming. Just take your time and only play the ones you want to play hon - that's your perogative sweetie.

Take care and I hope you get back to your old self soon xxxx

PS: Just to add Tasha, that personally for me, there are some fantastic new levels makers on the forum now, who make some wonderful "puzzle" element levels. Also at the convention, when we discussed levels, etc, it seems that EVERYBODY are finding levels a lot harder recently (old level makers and new level makers) - perhaps we are all getting too old

Well I know it isn't Pac-Man and I only made a few for fun if you check out other levels I have made you'll see that I don't use alot of baddies and if you don't like a level move on there are lots of brilliant levels in the forum. You say you don't mean to offend well you did, WE all love Wonderland That's why we are here, I try to make levels for everyone some are hard and some are easy OBTW I got my Pac-Man series idea from RTW retro gaming as I stated on one of the Pac-Man levels. Thanks for the stab.
PS I'm very sorry for your loss and your illness I hope your doing better.

Many thanks, Lillie, for your kind remarks. It's kind of hard to express just exactly what one means regarding the difficulty ot some of the newer levels without members taking offence which I certainly don't want to do -- and obviously did!!! Will just take your advice -- play the ones I can & forget the others. I guess I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problems with solving as I do.

Glad to read that you had a wonderful time at the 1st Convention!!!

Tasha, sorry for your loss!

Time will heal all wounds. Some of the levels are easy but most of them are hard for me. But I still give them a try, most I can't complete.

At least can say I tried, don't give up!

Hi Tasha,
I'm so sorry for your troubles. :( I hope things get better soon. There are several levels out there of the type you mentioned preferring. Most of mine don't have a lot of baddies and are more solving puzzles. I think the hardest one I've put on here was my first one (I think). It was a very hard maze. Mostly because you couldn't see most of it. Don't feel bad if you can't do all of the levels people post. I can't either. Sometimes I go back again and again and still can't get it. Other times I just can't move fast enough. That's not to say there's anything wrong with them, just that I can't do them. There's some levels in the Wonderland games themselves that I can't do for the same reason, not fast enough. Just download and play the ones you like, sweetie. This is a place for fun and Wonderland is not a job, so you have no obligation to play all the levels. Just have fun, sweetie, that's all.
