PARTY TIME!!!!

Post by Lillian » Tue Nov 22, 2005 1:05 pm

We are having a New year's Eve party this year - any suggestions for a theme please?

I'd like eveyone to dress up - without it costing them a fortune though.

Any unusual suggestions please? :P

You could have a birthday suit party, that would be VERY cheap.............but a bit cold perhaps. :P

Lillian, you seem "well traveled" to me, why don't you have an "International Party", everyone comes dressed in apparel, from someplace they've visited over the year.
You could continue the theme, by serving foods from all these different places.

If you decide to go this route, don't forget to invite me, I love trying new & different things. :D :D

Oh I had another idea. If your meaning of "dress up" is formal, you could do a "Years Gone By" theme. Then everyone could wear formal dresses, etc... they already have hanging in their closets. You could even make a game out of it "What Year am I" :?:

I'm surprised at you Lilo!

New year celebrations???? What country do you know is the most famous for this????

SCOTLAND OF COURSE!   8)

I used to hold a party every year and everyone had to come dressed in something tartan or a Scottish character. My flags hung out the porch window and the house was awash with all things relating to the old homeland.

If you need any more tips, let me know.

I love fancy dress parties - people are uninhibited and generally much more fun. Some excellent fancy dress parties I've been to were:

1) Film Titles (I dressed as a wasp and went as The Sting)
2) The Garden (Flowers, fruit and veg, etc. I went in something green and chiffony and put cut outs of fish here and there - I was the garden pond!)
3) Fancy hat party. People made their own hats or wore something daft they'd found in the attic. I made an Ancient Egyptian thing. The most amazing one was a top hat with an opening at the front - there was a mechanical fairground going on inside!

Whatever you pick will be fun and people will turn up in the most surprising things. :D

This year I organize a party for my work (400 people).

The theme is: What was it you want to be (when you were 9 years old) when you grow up. And then dress up like that.

Do you know what I mean.

I've been thinking of this all day.... because it sounds like so much fun & I love to host parties. It's just to bad I don't know enough people in Missouri yet to host any.

I went to this great party years ago, it was a murder mystery theme, it took place in a Soda Shop back in the 50's. All the guests were assigned a charactor, the charactor & role were on the invitation. We then all had to dress the part, act out the play & guess who the murder was, It was sooo much fun, a party that has stood out in my memory for years afterwards.
