Hi Hendo :D

I think you will find that the levels you are having trouble with are probably the ones with Custom Textures (Advanced) added to them. You HAVE to download and unzip to the appropriate RTWD folder to enable the level to work.

Do you normally download the custom models, etc?

Hi Hendo - sorry - but I went back to bed for an hour or so Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.... Happy New Year to you too. I bet you were on the beach on Christmas Day in Oz :D

Here is a really helpful link for info on downloading the custom stuff.

http://www.pcpuzzle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3617

Here is a really quick explanation:

Where a level has a custom model, texture, house or background - save the level file (.LV6) in the normal way (into Custom Levels). Then for the custom texture file click save on the paperclip and save it into C:/Return To Wonderland Delux/CustomTextures. Then open Windows Explorer and go into the Custom Textures directory and double click on the zip file you just downloaded and open it with winzip and unzip it and extract all the files into your custom textures directory. You have to make sure you don't get two lots of folders with the same name (within each other) which sometimes happens  I usually put a tick in this box and it never happens.

Hope this helps - feel free to ask again if it doesn't work :P

AND...if you do get everything downloaded to the right spots and the level still won't work, it may be because the texture .jpg files are the wrong size. The .jpgs need to be 64 X 64, 128 X 128 or 256 X 256.
Same goes for CustomBackgrounds. The .jpg needs to be 256 X 256.

I have a question on resizing the textures and backgrounds. I know that several people have asked the level maker to make sure sizes are right so that everyone can play the level with textures. However, on those levels, I have been able to play them. If I had one come up that I would need to resize, how would I do that? I have not made any myself as I am completely clueless in that area.

Amy, if you are managing to play all levels with textures then your graphics card must not be one of those finicky GeForce ones. You probably won't have any trouble so shouldn't need to resize any.

For those people who do need to however, you need to open the jpg in a graphics program or photo package, Paint won't do for this I don't think. Once opened look through the menus till you find 'resize'. Once in that, uncheck the 'lock aspect ratio' box and manually type in the sizes in the boxes. Make sure you have 'pixels' selected not 'percent'

This is what it looks like in Paint Shop Pro, but most other photo package will be very similar.

Hi Amy,
I don't have trouble with sizes either. So I, myself, am sometimes guilty of not remembering to size the .jpgs correctly.
This applies to CustomTextures, CustomBackgrounds, and to CustomModels.

popo,
Can you use any of Robbies "pop up" screen models the way that he has them sized? Some are 900 X 600, but some are 899 X 600 in Game Elements05 and they are 666 X 400 in Game Elements052.

No, not since getting my new pc with GeForce graphics. I have to resize them to 512x512.

I've had to resize most of the jpgs for the models I've done too. If I'm texturing models now, I texture them with the existing sized jpgs and then resize them once they've been saved in RTW. You can't resize them before texturing or it all goes wonky.

Most people seem to ok what ever size and shape they are, like I used to be.

Does it make any difference that I have the game on my laptop? I don't know if that helps or not. I know my laptop is faster than my other computer was so that is why I went with laptop only. It was just a thought that passed thru.

It doesn't matter what comuter it is Amy, just the graphics card, and you can find that out by right clicking the desktop, selecting properties then the settings tab. If it doesn't say GeForce you're probably ok.
