Custom textures

Post by mossykat »

I have unzipped all the new textures into custom textures, some work and others throw me back to my desk top when I press escape as instructed.
I'm confused as to what's happening. any ideas?

The ones that are causing your game to crash are most probably the wrong size textures. They should be 64x64, 128x128 or 256x256 pixels each. If you can resize them yourself then doing so will make them useable. If not try downloading them again because some of them have been resized.

Also make sure you do have the textures for levels that use them because they won't play without them and the game will crash in the same way.

Hope that's cleared it up for you. :D

Also make sure you don't have the dreaded "double folder" after you unzip the texture.

Thanks for the replies. Since I downloaded on the 31st I assume
I have the latest fixes but I'm still getting an error message in the
top left corner of my folder screen telling me to hit escape. When I do
I get thrown out of the game. I'm not sure about double folders, as
far as I know I just have the zip and the open folder in textures.
Perhaps I'll just wait for Mette's splendid download page on the 18th,
as I have no idea how to resize.

Mossy, I had the same problem and it was due to the textures files being in an additional folder. If you go into "My computer" and look at for the texture folder that is causing problems, open it. If there is a folder inside it with the texture files, this is the problem. Move the texture files into the first folder and delete the second or inside folder.

Gen, Thanks for your guick reply, have found the sub folder and tried to
move it, but I get a message saying it can't be moved so still doing something wrong, not a surprise as I rarely know what I'm doing on this
THING. Will persist and see what happens it's not going to defeat me!!!!

Gen

Yes, finally realized I had to right click the zip and then go through the whole process of opening the right folder etc. Don't know why it took me
so long to figure out. I take it no other way to do it quicker?

Mossy, I don't know if there is an easier way. After clicking on "download", I left click on "open", then "extract all files". When the window comes up, I used the "browse" to find the right folder to place the files. This works for me. I don't know whether it will work for everyone.

Double Folders

Post by paulm12 »

Yep, I have Double folders. I unzip, then cut and paste for textures and models and houses. Thanks

To download custom stuff this is what I do.

First download the zip to textures or models or whatever.

Right click the zip file and select Extract All

When asked where, I delete the back slash and file name shown in red below, e.g.

Return to Wonderland Deluxe\CustomTextures\blueblack

That way you don't have a double folder and you don't have to cut and paste.
