BTW - What's a drop-bear and a loo-frog???
Australian Language 101 Lesson 2
Drop Bear - The drop bear, or Pangkala as its known as by the aborigenies, is smilar to the koala. It has the same basic shap of the koala except it is about 8 foot tall, it has a lethery back-side, long razor sharpe claws and has 40cm long incisor teeth. The drop bear hunts by sitting in a tree until a victim walks under it. The drop bear would then fall out of the tree onto its victim, breaking its neck. If the drop bear misses it would them use its long claws to kill the victim. The drop Bear hunts in packs, with upto 4 bears in one tree at a time! Once the victim has been killed the rest of the bears would then fall and fight over the kill. These fights can be made up of upto 30 bears.

Loo-Frog - as you'd know, frogs like cool wet places & there's nothing like the inside rim of your toilet... This isn't a specific species, just where you sometimes happen to find them (after you've sat down)

One of these creatures exists, the other is just a makebelieve thing to scare the believe-anything-you-tell-'em folk.

As I was reading your story on drop-bears I thought "he's making this up", then I saw the bit at the end. Shame, I'd love to see four of them up a tree at once. BIG tree

wonderland convention anyone

Post by lgrapes » Thu Jun 10, 2004 11:20 pm

Hello everyone! I was reading through all of the posts about where the convention could or should be...What about Niagara? There are plenty of places to stay, it is beautiful, it is not expensive, it is easy for everyone to get to, there is plenty to do...Just a thought.

Also, I have a side business...I am an event coordinator! Let me know what I can do to help....

Then again - we could hold it in Arizona - right in the dead of Winter. When everyone else is in the middle of a blizzard, we could be having fun in the sun - a BIG WONDERLAND POOL PARTY. And you could all go home with tans!!!

How about Florida? We have sun, sand, surf, and seafood, plus a lot more for entertainment. Winter would be the best time also.

I've always fancied Las Vegas. I wouldn't want to spend an entire holiday there but a few nights would be nice. I don't gamble - I just want to see the lights. 8)

Arizona sounds good too, and Florida, in fact everywhere sounds good as long as it's not camping. :D
