Help! (For the computer experts in this forum)

Post by Lucky-Luc » Fri Jun 09, 2006 2:51 pm

I have a very strange problem, can anyone help?
A few weeks ago, my self made game suddenly ran much slower than ussually. I found it quite strange, because all the other games still went fine. So I thought it would only be my imagination.
Until today. I've just started Wonderland in the windowed mode, and it ran much slower than fullscreen. Now I had the idea to run my game fullscreen, too, and it was as fast as earlier. Also, this effect only happens to my game and Wonderland, so I guess it only happens to games programmed in any BlitzBasic language. That means: Windowed Blitz Applications suddenly run slower than any other applications. :? :?:

Does anyone have an idea why this happens or what I can do against it?

First thing I'd check is if your graphic card drivers are the latest versions. They might have reverted to an older version at some point.

The other thing to check is if you changed the bit resolution of your desktop (right click on your desktop, check properties). Your 3d card might be optimized for a certain bit resolution (16,24,32), and if the setting was changed, the windowed games might run slower than than the full-screen versions. I know on my laptop my windows screen is set to 24-bit, which is not ideal for the card - hence windowed games (which must share the same bit-depth) run slower than full screen games (which can set their own optimal bit-depth).

Hope this helps.

OK, though I've changed absolutly nothing, it works again :?
Anyway, thanks for trying to help! :D
