Which language are you speaking?
Which langauge are you speaking or Which is your native tongue?
If the first question, then I think many of us here know two or more languages.
My native tongue is Russian!
But on this forum (and on lots of others) I have to speak English and I am doing it as well as I can.

Muzozavr - your little bio says you live in Latvia. Do you speak the language ?
I speak American and understand some German, better than I can speak it.

My native tounge is Danish. Besides that I speak English. I understand a lot of German, but don't speak it very well. I understand a tiny bit Spanish, but don't speak it at all. Oh and I understand some Sweedish and Norweigian as well. And I understand enough French to know what I'm ordering at a restaurant
.

I know only a REALLY tiny bit of latvian language (Translated to English, what I know is: Thanks, Good morning, Hello, Good bye, What's your name and a few other phrases of that kind) and don't speak it at all.
I speak english the same as I am writing it here, but my pronouncation is sometimes... well, you better don't know it.
Question to mette: German and Dutch looks quite similar to me, but I don't understand them at all. Are they close, or are they very different languages?
EDIT: I saw my post being pretty confusing, sorry.
I mean German and Dutch, not Danish.

Hi Muzozavr, let me answer instead of Mette, because I speak both, German and Dutch (and English as you all hopefully may have noticed
). German and Dutch are languages of their own but related to each other with Dutch having a place somewhere between German and English. So for me speaking German and English already it hasn't been difficult to learn Dutch grammar and vocabulary. But it has sometimes a very different pronounciation [In Germany we have a joke that says that Dutch isn't a language at all but a throat illness (My excuses to Rose, Lydia, Mahaloof and other Dutch board members)
].
As to my language skills: I also speak/understand a little bit French and Spanish (just the stuff you need on holidays). And I have learned the classical languages Latin, Old Greek and Biblical Hebrew. Must be useful when someone finally invents a method of travelling back into time

I can speak several languages......Double Dutch, Gobbledigook and Twaddle to name but a few.
I have a smattering of French and Spanish, enough to get by on on holiday but I couldn't hold a conversation in either language. I think German would be quite an easy language to learn for me as the pronunciation lends itself well to the Yorkshire dialect. Ayup, me owd flowa!

Pauline
I speak English every day.
I am taking Honors French in High school, and I took French in middle school, so I am learning French quite well. I can count to ten in Spanish and Korean (my Martial Arts instructor counts in Korean sometmes, I've picked it up by now), and I can count to three in German.
It's fun to know other languages.

When I took Spanish on Elementary school, they had a new, inexperienced Spanish teacher every year, who taught my class the exact same thing, every year. I got sick and tired of it and took French in middle school.

Come to think of it: I could fill a theatre for a night just coughing on stage. Great fun!
But let's face it: Dutch ánd German (and perhaps the Scandinavian languages) are among the most un-poetic tongues in the whole wide world, maybe even the entire solar system!
But the most awful of all must be Popo speaking Double Dutch. She could be arrested for that.....

It was almost ten years ago I had lessons for two year. I needed it for synagoge. But the most of it is gone. It's a shame, but if you don't use it ------ It disapers like that. I will try to translate this later. But I thought I was something about your name.
