Launchball - Science/Puzzle game

Post by TheoX »

Launchball is a fantastic online puzzle game, made by the people who run the Science Museum in London. The purpose of the game is simple - get the ball to the exit. To do this, you must place objects in your bank (in the bottom-left) on places on the screen that will utilize their abilities and help get the ball to the exit. There's a wide range of gadgets to use - from batteries to fans to lights... it's vaguely like The Incredible Machine in a way. You can hover the mouse over any certain block to see what it does.
I love the graphics in this game - they're so simplistic but they look so nice. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention the ambient background music/sounds that play while you are figuring out a level - they remind me of Knytt sometimes and make playing very relaxing. Anyway, try it out! :D

Launchball!

ps: To anyone on the Niffforum - I know this post is bascially the same thing - you don't need to comment on that.

I've been skulking around. School makes me very preoccupied these days, and other games have filled my time too.

Great to see you drop by Theo. We miss ya.

I'm gonna try this game out though. Sounds intriguing :D

Apparently I'm too old for this. I don't even understand how to control it. How do you control the fans and stuff? Am I supposed to move tiles or the ball. Do you use mouse or keyboard? It's doin' nuttin for me

No, it confused me too at first. My dad showed this game to me and I had to ask him how to control it.
On each level, there are one or more orange-highlighted blocks in the bottom left outside the field of play. You click and drag them onto the field with the mouse, into a place where they can be useful. For example, in the first Warm-Up level, "Blown Away", you need to place the wind turbine right above and touching the copper wire, so that the wind from the fan above hits it and starts electricity flowing. On each level, when you've dragged the block(s) into where you think are the right places, hit "test". If the ball makes it into the exit, you've solved the puzzle! :D

Great Game Theo. I'm not registering,so I have to do Warm Ups, and 9 of the tricky levels over.

What do you mean by "register"? All you have to do is put in an email, and it gives you the code right away (and by email in case you forget it).

EDIT: I'll send my Launchball levels to anyone who asks via PM (PM because it requires showing your email address). 8)
