Final Level (Adv) Tourist Trap *

Post by Mark » Sat Apr 10, 2010 12:00 am

On this day five years ago, I posted my first level "Snow Garden".
Crafting puzzles gave me an opportunity to work with many talented people here.
Many levels and aliases later, my Muse has decided to fly away.
So here's my final offering using Janet Galle's Urbanscape.
Download Texture

Thank you for being such a good audience and attending my magic shows!

Sincerely,
Brentnor, Amadeus, Jordan32, Alter Ego,°°pathways°°, Magenta, & Mark

"Final" level? Never say "final"... for you never know when the inspiration decides to return and strike.

You did this once with the Brentnor level "The Puzzle Smith". Since then I don't trust in the "final"ness of your "final" levels.

The fact that you were Magenta is a surprise -- so THAT'S why that level was so good!
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

I planned this as my farewell level. It was actually done last summer. I'm no longer designing, though I'll still be around to play.

Plans exist to fail.

Saying that you're no longer designing means that you will never design an RTW level EVER... but how can you know that the inspiration won't strike again after a few months, maybe years?

Thanks so much, Mark, for all that you've given to this board. I'm looking forward to playing your last level! It's good to know that you'll still be around to play.

Thanks, also, for listing your other names. I'll download those levels and have some more wonderful game time.

Be well, Mark.

Mark, I respect your decision, but I also hope you once change your mind. As Muzo says: you never know what's going to happen in future.

Thanks for this, and all your great levels! :D

In the past, my inspiration came while working in the editor. My health has been very poor this past year and unfortunately has played a role in my decision.

I'm terrible at making intense wording.

We enjoyed playing your levels, and they will be missed greatly. :( I hope you begin to create levels again in the future, but that's up to you. I also hope that your health gets cured. Get well soon!

About the level, what do I do in the room with the Push Cannon inside the ice cube?

Thank you Kooky. In the lower-left room, that cube is very important, but you will need to use it somewhere else. Hint: Look for the twins.

I love your puzzles.. This is what got me started in creating levels... your great mind, imagination and complexity of puzzles, characterisrics of a true master were my inspiration. I hope your health gets better and that you come back for more challenging levels...

You will be truly missed here...

Mark - you've been Maestro of Magic for a long time and you've made hundreds of brilliant and enigmatic levels.

I do hope your Muse will return one day but even more I hope your health improves.

I'm glad you're not leaving us entirely.

Thank you for all your input. :stinkycool:

Finally finished this level after that hint with the ice cube/cannon and some top-notch trampoline hopping!

Thanks for the fantastic level! :D

It reassures me that you'll still be here; maybe inspiration will strike you again in the future when your health hopefully improves.

What a majestic level to end on!

Peegue is out on the top-right corner, wishing the greatest maestro of all times to be back in good health.

Your levels, Mark, though often difficult, were always fair.

Thank you for everything.

Hey guys :D
Although I've solved (on my own) only a minescule amount of your hundreds of wonderful offerings, I have always enjoyed (dreaded?) exploring the remarkable workings of your mind(s).
Whether playful, EVIL, magical, a small intricate puzzle or an extravaganza......I always say......"This time! This time, I'll do it!"
Thanks so much for making all those cool video solutions!
Take care and best wishes for a return to health.

Tourist Trap

Post by doodlebug » Mon Apr 12, 2010 10:27 pm

I have really enjoyed playing your levels. Most I can't get without help and this one is no exception. I am half way through and now am stuck until you post a solution. I had fun getting this far at least. Hope your health improves enough for you to start making them again someday. Thanks for all the hours of enjoyment.

I don't want this one to get buried, so I've bumped it up again. 8)

So far I've managed to get up to the top and use the cannon for a couple of things, but now I'm stuck. I'm jumping here, there and everywhere but not landing anywhere useful.

Back later ...

If you still need any help with that part:
-Once the cannon has served all of its purposes, push it all the way to the left so it breaks the box on the upper left tramp.

-Use some tramps to bounce behind the cannon. Push the cannon D onto the tramp to blow up the boomer (You should have used only 1 of the Sticky Cubes).

-Use the Sticky Cube to bounce onto and trigger the cyan button.
And that's as far as I remember, unless I'm doing things wrong. :)

Thanks for the hint Kooky! In fact I was going wrong right from the start and
smashing kaboom and pink cube together.
This prevented further jumps

With more help from Mark I've managed to complete this masterpiece.
What a convoluted brain you have Mark. Such complex manoeuvers, and so much to do in such a small space.

Excellent from start to finish. Thank you so much for all your levels.

You're welcome. :)

Edit: Here is the walkthrough:
1. Go twice U through TP to get coin. Push upper goobie 1L, and other one all the way DRD. Travel R and jump UD to get coins on tramps.

2. Go through white TP and push goob 1R. Go back through TP and travel L. Push goob all the way R to blue gate, 2U, (travel R) 3R over icecurves, and U over tramp to destroy shadowstinker.

3. Jump UUU DUL. Push cannon 2R to shoot box. Jump R and go through blue TP to get coin and back. Push cannon all the way L, to shoot other box.

4. Go through blue TP and jump DDRDL. Jump UULUL to the coin top-left. When kaboom is on lower tile, push cannon D over tramp to destroy both.

5. Jump D, get coin, push goob 1R, go through black TP, and push goob all the way L.

6. Jump UULUL. Push box R to exit-gate. Jump R and push box U through blue TP to destroy other shadow.

7. Jump D over left tramp and push goobie down over other tramp, to destroy box and activate lightblue button. Don't follow but walk around to that area.

8. Destroy cannon by pushing it L on ice. Slide L pushing plasmacube R. Push it U over icecurves, and 3R just before the water.

9. Using travelator push cube 1L and 1U. Travel back L, and jump UULL. Push cube U over the tramps, (same way as the first goob) to cover the blue button.

10. Jump UULUL, go through blue TP and jump DDRDU. (R of last cannon) Push barrel D to below tramp. Walk around and push it U over tramp to destroy goob.

11. Jump L to left-below cannon, and push cannon over the tramps, (same way like the barrel) and quickly push cube 2R on other blue button, and wait for cannon.

12. Push cannon 2L to shoot box, then 1L. Push other box U, walk around and push it 5L. (below the doorway)

13. Jump UULL and push box to intersection left of travelator. Travel L and push box L.

14. Push cannon to right/left-below black TP's. Box in the water 2 above lightblue button. Jump UU, go through TP and push cannon all the way L.

15. Travel R, jump UULUL, jump D and push cannon down to lightblue button.

16. Jump UUU to coin top-right, jump D, jump UULUL, and go through blue TP jumping DDRDD to the ice bottom-right.

17. Step R and push barrel 3L, 1R, 2U, and L on travelator to destroy ghost.

18. Push cannon UL on white button. Jump UR, UULUL, through blue TP jumping DDD to last coin, and exit.
