New Level (Adv) Mandatory Fun *

Post by Mark » Tue Aug 05, 2014 1:55 am

.
This one's definitely on the wild side.
I'm using Lizzie's Druidic "Dartmoor".

Have Fun!   It's mandatory.

And I was expecting some small funny level - but this was full on!

Thanks Mark!

I've worked out all the puzzles in this one and I'm now calling it a day because trying to maneuver you-know-who is proving too frustrating.

I did enjoy getting through the majority of this, thanks Mark.

I know I have to cover the cyan button with a link sphere, but... how?

I can't push the other one down, left, up, left, like I want to, but I need to get the cyan gate open to even leave the white teleport area... Hrm!

EDIT: I wonder if I'm solving the previous part right... in order to get the coin off the tramp and the coin on the cyan button, I need to jump over there. But on the way back, I need to get the green cannon out of the way. The only way I've figured to do that is by destroying a reflector. Is this correct? It seems wasteful.

Yes, it's the only way. The reflector is a red herring.

I've gotten that far, it's the part after that to which I'm stuck on.

This is truly such a beautiful level.

Thanks Mark. I seem to have gotten myself one step further in the puzzle. I hope I have not blocked myself by covering the white and cyan buttons with link spheres at the same time.

EDIT: And now I'm where bob was at. I can conceivably see how to destroy the box at the bottom, but how on earth do I destroy the one on the right?

You destroy the one on the right using the exact same tool as you destroy the one at the bottom!

Thanks Amnon - I managed to figure it out before coming back to this post though! I just wanted to say that I almost got to the end but I got shot by you know who. "Now I have to do it all over again" said Loof, very aptly. This level is a real test of wits. I hate red shadow stinkers!!

I've done it and exited the level with gold! Some of those tricks were real nasty at the end of the level, particularly the maneuver of getting the shadow stinker past the cannon on the left. Thanks for a cool level and a good brain pain Mark.

You are quite right, Theo,

I hesitated releasing this for three days because of that.
Perhaps I should have made this as an optional version.
My sacrifice was to slow the cannon down: to a 2 speed.

B T W,  thank you for that photo.
I see you play with the timer on!

Apparently I'm better at building levels than solving them. :?

Just can't see how to cover all three buttons in the beginning (the chomper gets in the way) and can't see any way to do it without covering all three buttons at the start. :? I can kill the chomper, but then I'm left with no way to cover the green button. I can cover all buttons, but then I'm left with no way to kill the chomper.

I can see some potential tricks later on, but I can't even get to them to see if I'm right.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

You are correct, my friend! :)
Murder that yellow-belly with the pink Jello and put the three boxes on each button.

Which leaves me with two buttons covered, the bridge-tile gone (because how else do I get into position to destroy the chomper?) and a metal box right near the green teleporter with no way to push it.

I must be doing something really wrong here.

Here's the walk-through for the first part:
Step one down and double jump up and right to get coin on green button.
Step down into TP and push box left onto pink button.
Push east box down into TP onto red button.
Jump left for coin and quickly step one right tramping goob.
Step one down and one right and then jump up.
Step one down and push goob and yourself right (You will be end up inside the goob).
Step up and take coin on the green button.
Now push the goob down and follow.
Tramp the goob left on the chomper and follow.
Jump up and step one down and push the last box right.
It will slide onto the green button.

Thanks, that did the trick. I just couldn't see that move, so it went wrong after that part. Now I can actually try the rest of the level.

I don't think it was a bad design decision, just a difficult one. I quite liked the way the level came together and was proud to brainstorm through it! 8)
Mark wrote:I see you play with the timer on!
Yes, it seems natural to me to play with all the options on. And what's the point of timer goodies if you have no timer?
Muzozavr wrote:Thanks, that did the trick. I just couldn't see that move
I think I would have gotten stuck in the beginning if I had not discovered the move by pure luck. Actually, I pushed the box with Loof so fast and held up, that Loof actually went above the box before it came out of the teleporter behind him. It gave me the impression that Loof was escaping danger by the hairs on his butt. I didn't know you could go inside the cube until I accidentally didn't run for my life!

OK, after I found out how to cover the cyan button, the rest of the level wasn't too complicated, except for the finish. That stinker took me some time.

Nicely done, Mark. Excellent design, full of neat tricks all over. The one required to move a certain cannon back and forth was probably my favorite. 8)

Are you talking about the part where you have to push the barrel between the coin and the teleporter, in order to have the cannon teleport upwards? I also greatly enjoyed that part. I wonder why a barrel teleport push can be stopped by a coin, but not by another object... I exploded when I experimented pushing the barrel into the cannon.

It's not just a teleport push, a regular one works the same way, I think. I don't know why, it just does.

Well that is bizarre. Leave it to Mark to include so many subtle trickeroos in his levels! :)
